Uman

The pearl of Uman is Sofiyivka Park, which is a combination of landscape art, ancient architecture and sculptural forms. The 179.6-hectare dendrological park receives thousands of visitors every year. Founded in 1796 by tycoon Potocki in honour of his wife Sophia Witt-Potocki (hence the park's name), the park is still one of the most popular among visitors. Here you can see incredible landscapes, fascinating waterfalls, examples of Roman and Greek architecture and sculptural art, go down to the majestic lake and learn the legendary history of the ancient park during a guided tour.

Why do you need to come here in autumn? Because you won't find such a colour palette anywhere else! More than 3300 species of trees and shrubs are planted in the park, which begin to change from green to golden shades in August. And in the middle and end of September, it's a paradise for artists, poets and other creatives! Feel yourself a part of art and ancient beauty in the Uman park!

Important! The park is open daily from 9:00 to 21:00. Tickets for adults cost 100 UAH, for school-age children - 50 UAH.

In Uman, you can also visit the Secrets of the Feinstein House NEMuseum, the Uman Museum of Local Lore, an art gallery, the State Historical and Architectural Reserve ‘Old Uman’ and the New Sofiyivka Fantasy Park.

The honour of the beautiful Sofia Potocka is forever engraved in the memory of this amazing park. However, this is not the only place in Ukraine where love is in the air. Read more by following the link.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

Respublika Art Festival

For more than a decade, Kamianets-Podilskyi has been hosting participants from all over Ukraine to take part in the Respublika festival in September. The main focus of the festival is street art, with artistic, literary and musical components. Since its inception, artists from all over the world have visited the festival - Spain, Poland, the USA... and the list is not limited to them. The festival is held in compliance with all security measures and is one of the most popular among street performers. So tourists should definitely visit this large-scale event!

Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress shrouded in legends

Visitors can also enjoy the architecture of the city of Kamianets-Podilskyi and its pearl, the Kamianets-Podilskyi Fortress. The fortification has a long history, although the exact date of its foundation is not known - from the 11th to the 14th century. There are many legends about the palace, including its strength and power, and its architecture is a combination of different trends and styles.

Ukraine is rich in fortifications. Unfortunately, not all of them have survived the vicissitudes of history. You can learn more about Ukrainian castles, which were once powerful and majestic, in this article.

Bakota - "Ukrainian Venice"

Anyone can visit the flooded village of Bakota, which is called ‘Ukrainian Venice’ for a reason. The history of the village is tragic: it was flooded as a result of the construction of a reservoir. Local residents had 8 years to say goodbye to the village and move to other places. They still gather once a year in their small homeland - 14 August is a special day! Bakota welcomes tourists regularly throughout the year, but autumn creates that special charm that is only possible on a foggy October morning on the shore of a forest pond, when the other side of the pond is hidden in a milky white mist and it seems that the universe is limited to this water.

Uzhhorod

And the acquaintance with the autumnal city begins again with a festival - this time a gastronomic one. ‘The Transcarpathian Beaujolais is one of the largest events for gourmets not only in Western Ukraine but also in Ukraine as a whole. The festival of young wine and honey is traditionally held in November and is a modern interpretation of the ancient Harvest Festival. To get to the event, you need to go to the so-called ‘Owl's Nest’ - the intersection of Rakoczy and Dovzhenko streets and Poshtova Square. Gastro-tourists can taste not only young wine - visitors are offered meat dishes, baked vegetables and bakery products. You can also try traditional Transcarpathian dishes!

Important! The event is held for two days and always falls on a weekend.

Fans of fortification architecture can visit Uzhhorod Castle, where they can admire the city's views and visit the ethnographic museum. By the way, the foundation of St George's Church, which dates back to the 14th century, is also located here.

Next to the castle is Skansen, also known as the Open Air Museum. A small ethnographic village has gathered culture from all over Zakarpattia - in a relatively small area there are huts of all ethnic groups and national minorities of the region.
