Documents confirming vaccination must be issued in English, French or have a certified translation. A combination of vaccines is accepted.
72 hours before boarding the plane, all passengers are required to submit personal information electronically through the ArriveCAN app (or website - https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid -19 /arrivecan.html). It contains information about the place of stay, contact information, an assessment of the presence of symptoms of COVID-19. The presence of ArriveCAN is checked by the representatives of the Canadian Border Service directly at the border. At the same time, measures of influence (from verbal warnings to a fine of $ 1,000) may be applied to persons who did not submit information in digital form before boarding the flight. Exceptions are made for those who cannot submit documents electronically due to personal circumstances such as disability or inadequate infrastructure.
The same rules apply at land and sea checkpoints. Transit passengers whose final destination is not Canada do not need to submit their information via ArriveCAN.
All persons aged 5 years and older who plan to arrive in Canada by air must undergo a COVID-19 test before boarding international flights (! Including fully vaccinated ones). In particular, it is necessary to demonstrate a negative PCR test in electronic or printed form, made 72 hours before arrival in the country (indicated by the controlled air carriers). The certificate must contain the following information:
- Traveler's name and date of birth
- Name and address of the laboratory / clinic / institution that performed the testing
- Date of the test
- Type of test performed
- Test result
Also, the presence of such a test is checked directly during the passage of Canada's border control.
Canada allows unvaccinated children up to 18 years of age to travel, accompanied by adults who have completed a full course of vaccinations. Children under 5 years old do not need to take tests. Children aged 5 and up to 17 years of age must undergo coronavirus tests before departure, upon arrival and on the 8th day after arriving in Canada.
Unvaccinated persons are prohibited from entering, with the exception of:
- permanent residents of Canada and immediate family members (parents / spouses / children) citizens / permanent residents of Canada);
- US residents (subject to substantiation of a substantial need to enter Canada)
- members of the diplomatic corps and crews of ships / aircraft;
- immediate family members (parents / spouses / children) of temporary residents of Canada (subject to the written permission of the Department of Immigration to come to Canada)
- holders of training permits (if training is not transferred to the online form)
- holders of work permits (if they live in Canada, or work in an important area, and their workplace is not reduced due to quarantine)
- persons who have received protection.

Upon arrival in Canada, persons who have not completed the full course of vaccination are subject to mandatory 14-day self-isolation and a COVID-19 test on the eighth day.
