Many foreign citizens come to Ukraine. Travelers need to remember the rules for crossing the state border. Find out more about what can be imported into Ukraine through the green and red customs corridors
Foreigners from all over the world continue to come to Ukraine during martial law. It should be remembered that customs rules apply when crossing the border with Ukraine. They apply to both Ukrainians and foreign citizens.
We talk about the rules for crossing the border and what items can be imported into Ukraine.
Green customs corridor. What can be imported?
Items that are not subject to customs taxation and declaration can be transported through the "green" corridor.
Persons passing through the green corridor are exempted from submitting a written customs declaration. Exemption from submitting a written customs declaration does not mean exemption from mandatory compliance with the procedure for movement of goods across the customs border of Ukraine.
In this way, you can import:
• Personal items;
• goods that cost no more than 500 euros and weigh up to 50 kg;
• edible products not for sale, which cost up to 200 euros;
• cash (both hryvnias and foreign currency) totaling up to 10,000 euros;
• medicines (except for narcotic and psychotropic substances) in the amount specified by the law: no more than 5 packages of each medicine per person.

Red customs corridor. Border crossing rules
Using the "red" customs corridor, it is allowed to transport items that must be declared in writing, namely:
• goods that require permit documents;
• currency and cultural values;
• securities and payment documents;
• drugs that contain narcotic, psychotropic substances or precursors;
• goods more expensive than 500 euros and heavier than 50 kg.
Pay attention! Taxes are calculated based on the value of the goods, for which you should present the goods receipts, labels and other available documents to the customs officer. If you do not have such documents, customs officers will be forced to determine the customs value of the goods based on the prices of identical or similar goods.
Remember that in the customs declaration you must specify the exact information about the goods you have, their quantity and name.
We will remind you! Foreigners who come to Ukraine need to familiarize themselves with the safety rules, because our country is still suffering from rocket attacks by the occupiers. Important recommendations and useful tips for safe entry and stay in Ukraine are here.
