Ukrainian women are strong and talented, persistent and hardworking, intelligent and very influential women who have been changing the history of not only their own country but the entire world for centuries. Ukrainian women have become queens, influenced world politics, appeared on the canvases of world-famous artists or created them themselves, performed on world stages, written books and made scientific discoveries, reached the top in sports, or amazed the world with their beauty.

Princess Olha


       The Grand Duchess was the ruler of Kyivan Rus and wisely governed the great state while her husband Prince Ihor and son Sviatoslav 1 the Brave were on numerous military campaigns. Her policies strengthened Kievan Rus for centuries to come.




Anna Yaroslavna or Anna of Kyiv


     Daughter of Grand Duke Yaroslav I the Wise of Kyiv, who became Queen of France.


      The wife of French King Henry I of France, she was the great-grandmother of almost 30 kings of France. She was a very educated woman and had a great influence on French world politics and culture.


Roksolana or Hurrem Sultan


    Anastasia Lisowska was one of the brightest rulers of the Ottoman Empire. The beauty captivated the sultan himself with her beauty, intelligence, and education. Roksolana freely corresponded with foreign rulers. For the sake of his beloved, Sultan Suleiman forbade the Tatars to raid Ukraine. Roksolana is the only one who received the honor of being buried next to the ruler.

Lesya Ukrainka


       An outstanding Ukrainian poet, writer, and cultural figure. During her life, she wrote about 270 poems, as well as many poems and dramatic works. Her works are recognized as masterpieces of world literature. Thanks to the work of the great poetess, Ukrainian literature has taken one of the highest positions in world culture, and Ukrainians are now known all over the world.


Kvitka Tsysyk


       A popular American singer of Ukrainian descent. For her song "You Light Up My Life," which she performed for the movie of the same name, Kvitka Cisyk won an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 1978 in the category of Best Song for a Movie.


Lina Kostenko


     A prominent Ukrainian writer and poet, she is an honorary professor at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, a doctor of Lviv and Chernivtsi universities. This woman was never afraid of the authorities and openly commented on their activities: the poet did not submit when Soviet censorship banned the publication of her works and did not remain silent in difficult times for Ukraine. Lina Kostenko's works are a true treasure of Ukrainian literature.




Kateryna Bilokur


    The Ukrainian artist and master of folk decorative painting conquered even the famous Pablo Picasso with her paintings. The whole world talked about the paintings of the famous Ukrainian artist.


Ada Rogovtseva


     Hero of Ukraine, People's Artist of Ukraine, famous theater and film actress. She has played many prominent roles throughout her career, and her contribution to Ukrainian culture is invaluable. Rogovtseva is a strong supporter of the Ukrainian military, helping soldiers in hospitals and often traveling to the front with her fellow actors to perform theater productions.


Elina Svitolina


      The third world number one in the WTA rankings in 2017, 2018, and 2019, who has twice reached the semifinals at Grand Slam tournaments. The prominent Ukrainian tennis player is the most successful athlete in the history of Ukrainian tennis, having set many national records.




Olga Harlan


    Six-time fencing champion and Olympic champion. A true pride of Ukraine.


Olena Zelenska


Long before russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the First Lady was actively involved in promoting Ukrainian culture and protecting women's rights. 


After February 24, she actively tried to convey the truth about the events unfolding in the country through the international media. 


Without hiding her concern, Zelenska became the first wife of a foreign president to appeal to the U.S. Congress for military assistance.


The First Lady is currently actively involved in implementing a psychological support program for women and children affected by the war.
