Help for animals affected by the Kakhovka dam explosion: we continue to support them
The Visit Ukraine team continues an urgent collection in support of the affected animals in Kherson region. Please join the collection, as your donations will help organizations that urgently address the issue of helping furry animals
On June 6, the russians committed another act of terrorism and insidiously blew up the Kakhovska dam. As a result, a large number of villages and cities of the Kherson region were flooded. Many people and animals were injured.
From the first hours of evacuation by rescuers, police officers, volunteers and local residents provide assistance to animals that have found themselves in deadly traps. Read how the people of Kherson save animals after the hydroelectric power plant was blown up in our material.
Many charitable organizations have announced fundraising for animals in the Kherson region. After the animals are rescued, they are transported, fed, treated and housed until they find a new home.
How do people support the animals of Kherson Oblast?
Many Ukrainian foundations opened fund-raising and went to help the Kherson fur coat.
Volunteers of the UAnimals team immediately went to the flooding site to rescue and evacuate animals, provide free veterinary care, provide food and other necessary supplies. Such difficult days became a strong challenge, but thanks to the active support of caring people who joined the rescue of animals, we managed to collect UAH 31,421,465. ($859,214 at the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine). The funds were distributed among many public organizations and associations that saved thousands of animals.
An urgent collection to help animals that will be evacuated from the Kherson region was also announced by the Happy Paw charitable foundation, which takes care of the fate of homeless animals. It was possible to collect UAH 880,185.37 ($24,068 according to the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine) for food, medicines and processing.
Also, the meeting was opened by the United Humanitarian Front, NGO "Kyivski tails", NGO Help animals and many other organizations.
Everyone tries to help. Almost 5,000 hryvnias ($136 according to the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine) were collected in one of Khmelnytskyi's dance studios to save animals that were flooded after the explosion of the Kakhovska dam.
Also, people and businesses support animals not only with donations, for example, the ZooPatrol UA team received a whole ton of feed for Kherson animals from the animal feed manufacturer Purina Ukraine. Hundreds of furry ones were fed goodies. Also, the manufacturer's team provides a month's supply of food to those who take a dog or cat from the shelter.
The people of Kropyvnytsia collected and handed over one and a half tons of aid for animals from the Kherson shelter, where 600 cats and dogs live permanently, animals are brought there from flooded areas, and the owners also leave their pets for respite.

How many animals were saved?
Unfortunately, thousands of animals died, but many more were saved. Many furries need our help. Both domestic and wild animals are evacuated. Dogs, cats, cows, pigs, deer, beavers, small rodents and many other animals - everyone needs help.
Animals receive shelter in different cities of Ukraine. Evacuated animals are taken to Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Khotyn, Poltava, Dnipro, etc.
Every shelter needs help, because a shelter is a big expense. Therefore, we encourage everyone to think about the opportunity to take one of the four-legged friends. If this is not possible, then be sure to support shelters with donations.
How to support animals evacuated from Kherson?
Everyone united to protect animals. The Visit Ukraine team also announced an urgent collection to support the affected animals in the Kherson region.
