Type D visas are issued for the purpose of further processing by the competent authorities of Ukraine of documents entitling to stay or reside in Ukraine for a period exceeding 90 days. Such long-term visas are issued as multiple-entry visas for 90 days.

Who can apply for a D-14 visa?

The D-14 visa allows foreign family members of Ukrainian citizens (residents) to unite and live together with their spouses in the country. The main reason for obtaining such a visa is marriage, even if it was concluded outside Ukraine.

In other words, the D-14 visa is a "marriage visa" that can be obtained by a foreigner, namely the spouse of a Ukrainian citizen, to enter Ukraine on the basis of marriage and subsequently obtain a residence permit.

What documents are required to apply for a D-14 visa?

The list of documents required for obtaining a D-14 visa is as follows:

– Visa application;

– A passport that will be valid for at least 3 months after the declared date of departure from the territory of Ukraine and which has free pages for visa stamps;

– A photo of 35x45 mm in size;

– Health insurance policy covering expenses for at least EUR 30,000 or the equivalent amount in another currency;

– A document confirming the marriage between a Ukrainian citizen and a foreigner or stateless person. If the marriage was concluded outside of Ukraine, its validity must be confirmed in accordance with the laws of the country where it was concluded.

– A document confirming that the foreigner or stateless person is a family member of a foreigner or stateless person who has a temporary residence permit in Ukraine. The last two documents must be translated into Ukrainian and apostilled.

– Documents confirming financial support for the maintenance of family members in Ukraine.

The Consul is authorized to request additional documents beyond those submitted by the applicant and reserves the right to interview any applicant personally.

After the interview, your application may require further administrative processing.

D-14 visa application procedure

Before applying for a long-term D-14 visa to enter Ukraine, please read the following rules carefully:

1. If a trip is planned, documents for obtaining a D-14 visa must be submitted no earlier than 3 months before the start of the trip to Ukraine.

2. The Department of Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends that all foreigners and stateless persons who plan to apply for a D visa fill out a visa application form and register a visa application before submitting documents. This helps to streamline and speed up the visa application process.

3. Embassies and consulates of Ukraine charge a consular fee for issuing a D visa.  If you need to apply for a visa on an urgent basis, the consular fee is charged in double amount.

Embassies and consulates of Ukraine consider visa applications and make decisions on visa issuance or refusal to issue a visa within the following time limits

– urgent - up to 5 business days from the date of receipt of the required documents. Urgent visa issuance is carried out at the request of a foreigner or stateless person and within the time limits determined by the relevant foreign diplomatic mission of Ukraine;

– not urgent - up to 10 business days from the date of receipt of the required documents, unless otherwise provided by international treaties of Ukraine. This period may be extended up to 30 business days if additional inspections are required.

Embassies and consulates of Ukraine charge a consular fee for all types of visas (transit, short-term, long-term) at the basic tariff rate of USD 65, unless otherwise provided by international agreements of Ukraine. At the same time, for certain categories of visas issued to foreigners from certain countries, the consular fee is charged at a tariff rate exceeding USD 65.
