A D type visa is a long-term visa issued to foreigners and stateless persons to enter Ukraine for the purpose of further processing documents entitling them to stay or reside in Ukraine for a period exceeding 90 days.

We will tell you how to obtain this type of document and what are the requirements for obtaining a D visa.

How to obtain a D visa to Ukraine?

In order to obtain a visa to Ukraine, a foreigner must apply to a Ukrainian consular office in the country of residence.

Please note that long-term visas are issued as multiple-entry visas for 90 days only.

To apply for a D visa, you must provide:

- passport and its copy;

- a residence permit. Please note! When applicants reside in a country other than their country of citizenship, the Embassy can only accept visa applications from applicants who have valid temporary/permanent residence documents (long-term visas/residence permits or their equivalents, etc;)

- a printed and completed visa application form;

- color photos 35 x 45 millimeters;

- health insurance policy for the entire period of visa validity;

- documents confirming the purpose of your trip, financial capabilities, place of residence, ticket reservation, health insurance and other documents that may be required for the consideration of your application;

- documents that are the basis for obtaining a visa in accordance with its type.

- receipt of payment of the consular fee.

Important! Documents issued by the competent authorities of a foreign country must be legalized and translated into Ukrainian.

The consul is authorized to request additional documents other than those submitted by the applicant and reserves the right to interview any applicant personally.

After the interview, the foreigner's application may require further administrative processing.

How long does it take to process a D visa?

The Embassy considers the visa application and makes a decision on granting or refusing a visa within the following timeframes

 urgent - up to 5 business days from the date of receipt of the required documents. A double consular fee is charged

 in the normal course of business - up to 10 business days from the date of receipt of the required documents, unless otherwise provided by international treaties of Ukraine. This period may be extended up to 30 business days if additional checks are required.

What should I pay attention to when applying for a D visa?

Firstly, documents issued in a foreign country (except for a passport) must be legalized or apostilled, unless otherwise provided by Ukrainian law.

In addition, all documents drawn up in a foreign language must be submitted for a visa along with a certified translation into Ukrainian. If this is not possible, a translation into English is acceptable.

In order to obtain a visa, you must have a passport with a visa label affixed to it, valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of Ukraine (but not less than 6 months) and have at least two free pages.

Obtaining a residence permit is a simple procedure, but it requires a good knowledge of the Ukrainian language and legislation. Our specialists can assist in collecting and preparing the necessary documents. Migration law is one of the most important components of our specialization. We understand how difficult it is for a foreigner without knowledge of the language and legislation to personally apply for a residence permit or the required type of visa, so we offer a wide range of services, including obtaining a residence permit on the basis of employment on a turnkey basis.
