A track and field athlete from Ukraine broke the "eternal" record that had been held for almost 37 years. Having ducked 2.10 metres, she became the first person to do so in the world of athletics. What you need to know about the "eternal" record and what one award has not yet conquered Yaroslava Mahuchikh, read in this material
Ukrainian athlete and multiple high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh has created a real miracle in the world of athletics by breaking the world record that had stood for almost 37 years. We're going to tell you why this achievement is unique and what award the athlete needs to collect the most prestigious collection.
Last Sunday, Mahuchikh competed at the Diamond League stage. During her performances in Paris, Mahuchikh won the high jump against Australia's Nicola Olislagers, who managed to jump 2.03 metres. After that, Mahuchikh also cleared 2.03 and then 2.07.
However, the Ukrainian did not stop there and decided to try to beat the world record, setting the bar at 2.10 metres. Mahuchikh managed to reach this height on the first attempt.
It should be noted that the world record in women's high jump had been held for almost 37 years. The previous record was set in 1987 by Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who cleared 2.09 metres - Mahuchikh is the first to surpass 2.10 metres+.
In addition, Mahuchikh is the third athlete in history to have two jumps of 2.07m and above. Blanka Vlasic has the same number of successful attempts, while Kostadinova has five.
Mahuchikh is also only the fourth world record holder in athletics in the history of Ukraine.
It is important that the Ukrainian athlete is in great shape for the Olympics in Paris. In addition, the Olympic gold medal is the only award the new world record holder has not yet won.

Mahuchikh managed to break an eternal record
"Eternal" records in athletics are achievements, most of which were set in the mid-to-late 80s, when banned pharmacology was in full swing. Many athletes were taking cocktails of hormones, steroids and who knows what.
And even after 35-40 years, with all the technological breakthroughs in sports, nutrition, and training, many results remain unattainable for modern athletes.
It is worth noting that breaking such a record means that an athlete has reached a completely different level.
This was the case with Arman Duplantis - when he broke Bubka's "eternal" pole vault record, he began to set new achievements one after the other and has already jumped 10 cm over Bubka.
