After two and a half years of full-scale war, many Ukrainians seem to have changed their minds about negotiations with russia. Find out what Ukrainians think about the possibility of a new dialogue with the occupying country
Ukraine has conducted a new poll on citizens' readiness for peace talks with russia. Fresh sociology shows that many citizens want to end the war as soon as possible. We tell you how many Ukrainians are in favour of peaceful dialogue.
Thus, according to a survey conducted by the Razumkov Centre at the request of ZN.UA, 65% of respondents believe that Ukraine can defeat russia on the battlefield. 16 per cent of respondents do not believe in the victory of the Ukrainian army.
How do Ukrainians feel about negotiations?
When asked by sociologists whether the time has come to start official peace talks between Ukraine and russia, 44% said that yes, it has come. 35% of respondents disagree that negotiations should be held. Many are still undecided - 21%.
At the same time, citizens were asked which of the conditions Ukrainians consider as the minimum necessary for the conclusion of a peace agreement?
Thus, half of the respondents (51%) insist on the liberation of Ukraine within the borders of 1991. 26% can agree to stop the war on the border line in early 2022 and only 9% are ready to recognise the border on the front line at the time of the agreement.

At the same time, 7.6% are ready to give up Ukrainian territories, and 14% are ready to give up the pro-Western vector of free development of Ukraine.
According to sociological surveys, the share of Ukrainians who are ready to give territories to russia is growing. Thus, from May 2022 to December 2023, the number of people who believe that for the sake of peace it is possible to cede territories, according to KMIS, has almost doubled - from 10% to 19%.
As is known, Ukraine recently held a peace summit in Switzerland, where it gathered about 100 countries to find a common picture of potential peace with russia. The meeting resulted in a document that was signed by most of the representatives present. How in general the event went, what the document was about and what to expect next, read the link.
