Key landmarks

1

Holy Trinity Mezhyritskyi Men's Monastery

The appearance of monastery is more like a powerful and impressive castle than a quiet spiritual shrine. The majestic community of gilded domes and pointed towers, rising above the picturesque surface of the pond, can be seen from afar and captivated by its beauty. The beginning of monasticism in the Mezhirytsky Monastery, which was founded by the monks of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, was first mentioned after 1240 in the annals.

2

Ostroh Academy National University

The Ostroh Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy is the successor of the first higher educational institution of the East Slavic peoples. The academy was founded in 1576 by Prince Vasyl-Kostyantin Ostrosky. The uniqueness and originality of this higher educational institution were revealed in the fact that two types of cultures were combined here for the first time: Byzantine and Western European. The renaissance of the Ukrainian people is associated with the Ostroh Academy.
