DETAILS

On Tuesday, November 22, the government adopted a resolution that will allow Ukrainians to use a qualified electronic signature (QES) in the European Union to receive services. Accordingly, the European electronic signature will also be valid in Ukraine.

Why do you need electronic signature recognition?

Mutual recognition of Ukrainian and European electronic signatures will facilitate business. In addition, many Ukrainians are now forced to stay abroad. Thus, it will be easier for them to receive certain services, or to identify themselves when receiving many services and doing business in EU countries.

However, the procedure for recognizing electronic signatures on the territory of the European Union differs from Ukrainian identification. Mutual recognition of electronic signatures with the EU is a long-term process.

Currently, the project of mutual recognition of electronic signatures is experimental. It will allow solving urgent needs in the field of e-services even before the official accession of Ukraine to the EU.

In addition, the mutual recognition of qualified electronic signatures with the EU will be an important step in the further mutual recognition of our qualified trust services.

What is a qualified electronic signature?

Qualified electronic signature (QES) is an electronic alternative to a conventional signature. That is, electronic data obtained as a result of cryptographic transformation. QES is added to data or documents for identification.

Where can an electronic signature (QES) be needed?

With the help of QES, you can sign electronic documents, use electronic services, register on state portals, etc.

In addition, it provides an opportunity to record the time of signing, which adds reliability to signed documents.

Documents signed using a qualified electronic signature have the same legal force as conventional ones.
