The holiday season has already begun, but the beaches in Crimea are practically empty, as russians are reluctant to travel to the peninsula, fearing a Ukrainian counteroffensive, "cotton" and problems with fresh water. Moreover, owners of apartments and hotels are selling off their properties and complaining about the lack of bookings. According to preliminary estimates, Crimean hotels are only 30-40% full. Let's take a closer look at what is happening on the peninsula and how the beach season is going.

We told you about what awaits Crimea after its liberation from russian invaders here.

Empty beaches in Crimea

Usually, at this time, the beaches of the peninsula were already crowded with people, but now there are almost no vacationers, sunbeds, as well as restaurants and bars on the coastal zone are empty. This is despite the fact that the water has long since warmed up to a comfortable 22-23 degrees.

According to those who did decide to go on vacation to Crimea, they have never seen the peninsula so empty. However, this evokes only positive emotions among russians, because "housing prices are low, and you can bargain." They also note "a lot of free space" and the ability to come to the beach at any time without having to take up space in the morning.

What is happening to the hotel business in Crimea?

According to the comments of property owners in Crimea, they do not remember a worse season than now. Even in 2014, the number of vacationers was much higher.

Mini-hotels and apartments are particularly affected, most of them have not even opened this season because they have no bookings. And those that have opened note that with such a full house, they are working at a loss.

The wave of real estate sales in Crimea began in 2022, but today it has gained new momentum. Hotel owners are now also afraid that their business will be destroyed in the course of the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive. In addition, the maintenance of apartments and hotels requires money, and there is nowhere to get it from, as russians do not want to go to Crimea.

Prices for daily rent have reached historic lows. For example, in Yalta, rent starts at 600 rubles (260 hryvnias) per day. According to property owners, the price will rise in July, but it all depends on the number of vacationers.

Local sanatoriums are staying afloat, but only thanks to budget orders. After all, russia settles Ukrainian refugees on their territory and sponsors vouchers for russians working at factories.

What are russians afraid of?

Explosions are heard almost every day in the occupied Crimea, due to the destruction of warehouses with BC and military centers of the russian federation by the Ukrainian army, and therefore there are no people willing to relax to this accompaniment.

After the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam, the issue of fresh water arose. According to hotel owners, russians are bombarded with questions about the availability of fresh water every day. No one wants to go on vacation and suffer from hourly water supply.

It should be noted that there are currently no problems with drinking water, as the russian authorities have prepared for a terrorist attack on the dam and filled almost all the reservoirs that were previously dry. However, the situation is very deplorable for farmers, as they need a lot of water to maintain their land, and they no longer have access to it.

It is worth noting that recently the local russian population has begun to complain about the actions of the russian authorities. After all, russian troops, trying to strengthen their positions, dug trenches even on coastal areas and sandy beaches. And the russians were not ready for this.

They are particularly concerned about the chemical plant that russia mined at the very beginning of the holiday season. Now people are afraid of an explosion at the plant, and no one is hiding the fact that it is russia that could commit a terrorist attack. After all, we all know why russian troops mine critical facilities.

russian propaganda

Local bloggers and media personalities have received a social order from the russian authorities. Today, they are trying their best to persuade russians to come on vacation, running around empty beaches and assuring them that Crimea is full of tourists. However, no one is embarrassed by the fact that these very videos clearly show that there are no vacationers.

Most of those who are now sunbathing on Crimean beaches are Crimeans themselves, who moved from the steppe part of the peninsula because of the danger of a chemical disaster provoked by russia. In addition, they note that Ukrainians who have left the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine, which are temporarily occupied by russian troops, remain on the peninsula.

We believe that russian tourists will never return to Crimea again, and the de-occupation of the peninsula will take place in the near future!

Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!

We remind you that the cities that suffer from russian missile attacks almost daily are also trying to survive without water. Find out what is happening in the settlements affected by the draining of the Kakhovka Reservoir in our previous article.
