According to the latest reports from the General Staff of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to seize the strategic initiative and advance deeper into enemy positions in almost all areas of the front. At the same time, the occupiers are trying to resist and hold on to their positions, in particular by densely mining the territories.

The first liberated villages opened the way for Ukraine to enter the previously occupied Berdiansk and Mariupol, and today the Ministry of Defense says that the Armed Forces have begun a broad frontal advance along the entire front line in the Bakhmut sector and have made significant progress in the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors.

Ukrainian Armed Forces advance: what territories have already been liberated

Eastern front

While earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had partial success on the eastern front, today the fighters are actively advancing toward Bakhmut from several directions at once. In particular, the fighting is taking place near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Yahidne, Klishchiyivka, Kurdyumivka and Bakhmut itself. According to the Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Hanna Malyar, advances of 1 to 3 kilometers were recorded in each of the areas. British intelligence also confirms the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on both flanks. In addition, the General Staff emphasizes that fighting is already taking place in Bakhmut itself.

It should also be noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have recaptured positions that had been under the control of the occupiers since 2014. In particular, we are talking about the positions near Krasnohorivka, which are on the outskirts of Donetsk.

Southern front

Ukrainian soldiers are making the most progress in the southern sector, having liberated about 130 square kilometers of territory so far. In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces regained control over 9 settlements. Thus, Lobkove and Pyatikhatky in Zaporizhzhia region, as well as Rovnopilya in Donetsk region, have been added to the 6 previously de-occupied villages.

The fighting is not easy, as the enemy is not going to leave their positions on their own, but even in the Melitopol sector they have advanced at least 1.5 kilometers.

Forcing the Dnipro River near Kherson

For about a week now, the occupiers have been spreading information that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have crossed the Dnipro River and gained a foothold on the left bank near Oleshky, forming a small bridgehead for further landings. The Ukrainian authorities did not comment on these claims, but the authenticity of the videos published by the russian side was confirmed by OSINT projects Noelreports and GeoConfirmed.

Slow progress: how the outcome of the counteroffensive may affect the West's attitude toward Ukraine

Some Western media outlets are stirring up panic around the slow progress of the Ukrainian armed forces, emphasizing that if Ukraine does not make significant progress by the fall, the collective West will no longer supply weapons and will demand direct negotiations with russia.

However, the Ukrainian authorities urge to disregard individual statements by media representatives and rely only on official statements by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. After all, it is too early to talk about the pace of advancement, as the individual operations currently underway at the front are only preparatory measures for large-scale flanking offensives. And in order to succeed in the counteroffensive, the army must create certain conditions for this, which is what we see at the front today.

Moreover, the NATO military staff did not confirm the compromising media statements and emphasized that the current stage of the war may indeed be long and difficult, but they will continue to do everything possible to help Ukraine win the war.
