In Europe, strikes in transportation are a frequent occurrence as workers fight for better working conditions and wages. However, this often leads to changes in travel plans for passengers due to the postponement or cancellation of flights, euronews.travel writes.

Here's where strikes are expected in Europe in the near future.

You can buy train, bus, or plane tickets to Ukraine and between cities around the world, as well as view timetables and compare prices through Visit Ukraine's convenient booking service. The website has a bonus points system that allows you to travel much cheaper.

Transport strikes in Europe: where flight disruptions are possible

Italy

In Italy, the two largest trade unions have announced a strike for April 11, which will affect the railways and other public transport. Demonstrations over working conditions will last 4 hours at different times in cities across the country. Passengers should note that the staff of the state railroad company Ferrovie dello Stato, which includes Trenitalia, will be on strike from 9:00 to 13:00.

United Kingdom

In April, local strikes of transport companies' employees will take place in the UK. For example, on April 10-11, London Underground support staff will go on strike, which may lead to the closure of some stations. On April 13, protests by the RMT union will affect the services of the CrossCountry railroad company. From April 15 to April 20, strikes by the ASLEF machinists' union will affect the services of the Northern Railway. An ASLEF strike is scheduled for April 20, which will affect LNER trains.

However, the strike at London's Heathrow Airport, scheduled for April 11-14, was canceled by controllers to allow for negotiations.

France

In France, the CGT-RATP trade union announced a strike from February 5 to September 9. This may affect the operation of the Ile-de-France bus and metro network, particularly during the Olympic Games in the summer. However, a bill is being considered in parliament to ban strikes in transportation for certain periods each year to avoid disruptions during major events.

Germany

No strikes are currently planned in Germany. On March 25, Deutsche Bahn entered into an agreement with the German train drivers' union GDL. The agreement stipulates that GDL will refrain from strikes at least until February 2026. The German trade union Verdi also reached an agreement on wages and called off strikes at various German airports.
