Norway has launched an individual review of applications of Ukrainian asylum seekers, which could lead to the deportation of hundreds of citizens. Learn more about the causes and consequences of such circumstances for refugees in the country
Individual consideration of applications has begun for Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Norway. This is reported by nrk.no.
It is noted that during the review, the personal circumstances of the applicants and the region of Ukraine from which they came will be assessed. In case of refusal, hundreds of Ukrainians who do not fall under collective protection may be forced to leave the country.
Here is what you should know about the individual consideration of refugee applications and under what circumstances people will be asked to leave Norway.
Several hundred Ukrainians may be sent home: details
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has started an individual review of applications from Ukrainians who did not reside in Ukraine at the outbreak of the war and do not meet the requirements for collective protection. The first results of the review will be known in early fall.
“What is new is that we start with individual consideration of cases. This is done by assessing the situation of each person, including where they come from,” emphasized Emilie Unger Mel, Minister of Justice and Emergency Situations.

This applies to 800-1000 people who may be forced to leave Norway. Among the asylum applications under consideration, 370 belong to men of military age.
The Ministry of Justice notes that the risk of being drafted to war is not a ground for asylum in Norway:
“Conscription and participation in war are not grounds for asylum in Norway. However, these issues are considered individually in each case,” the agency explained.
According to UDI, Lviv, Volyn and Zakarpattia regions are currently considered safe for life.
It is known that Norway currently provides collective protection to more than 77 thousand Ukrainians. In particular, the government is taking measures to reduce the attractiveness of the country and reduce the flow of new refugees.
We remind you! Western countries are increasingly taking a more decisive approach to the issue of their military's activities directly on the territory of Ukraine. Some NATO members want to shield the western part of Ukraine from russian missiles.
