Soon, Ukraine will have a new opportunity for pet owners - electronic veterinary passports in the Diia app. This was announced by Kateryna Solovyova, a communications specialist who is leading the project to implement the registry.
This feature will become available after the launch of the Unified State Register of Pets.
Veterinary passports will appear in Diia after the launch of the Unified State Register of Pets: what is known
According to Solovyova, who is in charge of project communication, the pet registration process will soon become available to the general public. The project was first presented to Ukrainian pet owners at the recent Dogs Fest festival.
Solovyova also noted that the registry has undergone extensive testing with 20 veterinarians from different regions of Ukraine. The team has now completed improvements that will optimize the work of doctors with the system.
It is expected that in the fall, pet owners will be able to register their pets for free during a visit to the vet.

Once the registry is up and running and animal registration becomes widespread, their veterinary passports will be displayed in the Diia app. This means that pet owners will be able to use an electronic veterinary passport after registering their pets in the state registry. In particular, this will be useful when traveling around Ukraine.
Please note! Ukrainians and foreign citizens can return or come to Ukraine with their pets. For more information on the current rules for entering Ukraine with pets, please follow the link.
Kateryna Solovyova also warned owners that paper passports obtained outside of state veterinary clinics may be unofficial. This may become an obstacle to traveling abroad, as such documents are not recognized in the EU.
As you know, at the end of last year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution to launch a project to identify and register pets. Among the benefits of the project are the ability to restore animal documents, confirm ownership, facilitate the search for missing animals, and, of course, display electronic veterinary passports in Diia.
We remind you! It is necessary to prepare for traveling with pets abroad in advance, as vaccinations and paperwork require consistency and time. Read how to travel with pets, what you need to do and what are the requirements for importing pets to the EU in our previous article.
