Visit Ukraine congratulates all women on a wonderful holiday! On this day, we celebrate not just a celebration of spring and beauty, but a day that honors the strength and courage of women. Find out more interesting facts about the history of the holiday, as well as the traditions of celebration in Ukraine and around the world
🌷March 8 is celebrated worldwide as the International Day for Women's Rights and Gender Equality. This holiday has deep historical roots, as it was first proclaimed in 1910 by Clara Zetkin as a day of solidarity for women in the struggle for their rights. Over time, it has gained global significance and today is a symbol of respect, equality, and recognition of women's role in society.
In Ukraine, March 8 has always been not only an official holiday, but also a day to celebrate the strength, tenderness and endurance of women. This holiday has become especially significant during the war, when Ukrainian women demonstrate their courage on the front line, in volunteer activities, in medicine, education and every sphere of life that brings our victory closer.
Women fighting for Ukraine
Today, Ukrainian women not only keep warmth and love in their families, but also bravely defend their country. Women serve in the Armed Forces, work as medics, volunteers, rescuers, diplomats and journalists. They bear a huge burden of responsibility and prove that strength of spirit has no gender.
We would like to thank every Ukrainian for their contribution to the common struggle and wish them peace, joy and fulfillment of their dreams. You are the pride of Ukraine!
How March 8 is celebrated in Ukraine and around the world
Traditionally, in Ukraine, this holiday is accompanied by greetings, flowers, warm words and meetings with family. In many countries around the world, this day is celebrated with marches for women's rights, charity initiatives, support actions and events that draw attention to important social issues.
Despite the difficult times, we believe that every Ukrainian woman should receive warmth, respect and support on this day. Let March 8 be not just a holiday, but a day of inspiration, faith in the future, and a reminder that women deserve equal opportunities and respect every day.
