Ukrainian citizens are allowed to enter Belgium regardless of the purpose of the trip.
Mandatory documents:
- a valid biometric passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad (the validity of which must exceed the date of your intended departure from Belgium by 6 months);
- documentary confirmation of the purpose of your trip (card of a resident of an EU country or residence permit, hotel reservation, invitation of a business partner, etc.);
- confirmation of your financial solvency;
- a health insurance policy for the entire period of stay in the country.
Moreover:
You must complete the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) 48 hours prior to arrival in Belgium - https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/plf/
- when you travel to Belgium by air or sea;
- when you travel to Belgium by train, bus or your own car from a country that is outside the EU or Schengen countries.
The PLF form provides information about the previous 14 days on the date of filling and is taken into account when determining the need for quarantine and when the color-code of the country changes. This form must be completed by everyone over the age of 12. Children under 12 years of age will be entered on the PLF form of a parent or duly authorized escort.
Before traveling, you should check the color code of the country from which you are traveling to Belgium to make sure that it is not on the list of countries with a critical epidemiological risk (indicated in red). The list can be checked at https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/colour-codes-by-country/. The information on this web resource is updated every Wednesday.
Note: if you are traveling from a country with a critical epidemiological risk, or have visited such a country within the last 14 days, the purpose of your trip to Belgium must be “respectful” and must be confirmed by a proper authorization document issued by the Belgian Embassy in the respective country.
! As of October 18, Ukraine is in the red zone of the white list.
This means that it is still possible to travel to Belgium without proof of urgent need and regardless of vaccination status.
- You have a certificate of vaccination (Diia app or a printed certificate from Diia portal) or of recovery – testing and quarantine are not needed;
- In the absence of a vaccination or recovery certificate (positive test for COVID, the date of issue of which does not exceed 180 days from the date of testing) – a negative PCR test must be available (done no more than 72 hours before arrival in Belgium). You must be re-tested 1 or 2 days after entry. If you receive a negative test, you can end quarantine. But they must pass another test on the 7th day.
Children under 12 do not need testing.
Vaccination certificate
A person is considered fully vaccinated when the period of 14 days has passed from the date of the last vaccination. Vaccines recognized by Belgium:
Pfizer / BioNTech (Comirnaty)
Moderna
AstraZeneca / Oxford (Vaxzevria)
Janssen
Covishield
Important: if you are not a resident, do not have a residence permit in the countries of the European Union or the Schengen Agreement, the certificate that you intend to present must be recognized by Belgium or the countries of the European Union. The appearance of the certificate and the requirements for it (in English) can be checked on the website of the European Commission under the link EU Digital COVID Certificate | European Commission (europa.eu).
Main characteristics of the certificate:
- it must be digital or paper;
- contain a QR code;
- be free;
- compiled in Ukrainian or English;
- have elements of protection;
- be valid for all EU countries.
The digital version of the certificate can be stored on a mobile telephone device. A citizen of Ukraine may also want a paper version of the certificate. Both versions of the certificate must contain a QR code, which, in turn, contains important information, as well as a digital signature that confirms that the certificate was issued legally. The member states of the European Union have agreed on a uniform design for both digital and paper versions of the said certificate in order to facilitate its verification and recognition.
ATTENTION! If the police suspect an attempted tampering with a PLF form or a negative COVID test, an official protocol is drawn up. Such a protocol is sent to the office of the attorney general. Such actions are considered a serious crime and are qualified as an attempt to forge official documents, for which criminal liability is provided.
