Work in Indonesia for Ukrainians
If you want to work in Indonesia on a long-term basis, you need to obtain an appropriate work visa.
Employment visa to Indonesia
In order to obtain a work visa to Indonesia, you need to go through several stages. The process is as follows:
1. The employer obtains an expatriate work permit (RPTKA).
Your employer in Indonesia applies for an Expatriate Employment Permit (Rencana Penempatan Tenaga Kerja Asing), which is issued by the Ministry of Manpower of Indonesia.
2. Application for a work permit (IMTA).
After obtaining the RPTKA, the employer applies for an IMTA - a work permit for a foreign worker. This allows you to work officially in Indonesia.
3. Applying for a work visa (VITAS).
After obtaining the IMTA, the employer applies for a VITAS (Visa for Temporary Stay), which you will receive at the nearest Indonesian embassy. The VITAS allows you to enter Indonesia for further obtaining a temporary residence permit.
4. Obtaining a temporary residence permit (ITAS).
Upon arrival in Indonesia with a VITAS, you need to apply for an ITAS - a temporary residence permit. This permit allows you to work and live in Indonesia for 6 months to 1 year with the possibility of extension.
5. Apply for KITAS.
After obtaining ITAS, you must apply to an immigration office in Indonesia for KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Sementara) - a temporary residence permit card. KITAS allows you to work legally in Indonesia.
Other requirements:
To complete the process, you also need to obtain a Police Report Letter (STM) from your local police department and register with the Population Department for a Temporary Resident Registration Certificate (SKPPS).
Documents required to apply for a work visa (VITAS):
- A color copy of your passport valid for at least 18 months.
- A copy of your curriculum vitae (CV) with a company stamp and signature of the director.
- A copy of your university diploma or higher level of education (translated into English or Indonesian).
- Certificate of work experience (at least five years).
- Proof of insurance policy from an Indonesian insurance company.
- Two passport-size color photographs.
- If you are bringing family members with you:
- Color scans of passports of family members.
- Marriage certificate (in English or Bahasa Indonesia).
- Birth certificates of children (in English or Bahasa Indonesia).
- Two passport-size photos of each family member.
Duration of the work visa to Indonesia:
A work visa (KITAS) is usually issued for a period of 3 months to 1 year.
KITAS can be extended for 3 years, after which you can apply for KITAP - permanent residence permit in Indonesia. KITAP is valid for 5 years and can be extended.
Can I extend my work visa in Indonesia?
Yes, you can extend your work visa (KITAS) until the end of its validity. After three years of staying with KITAS, you can apply for KITAP, which entitles you to permanent residence in Indonesia.
