To the attention of citizens of Ukraine arriving in the Kingdom of Denmark with passports for traveling abroad of the old sample (not biometric).

The Danish Police issues emergency visas of this category to citizens of Ukraine at the time of their entry into Denmark (at the border).

As a rule, an emergency visa is issued immediately after entering Denmark. At the same time, due to a significant number of requests, the time for processing information by the competent authorities has increased significantly. In this regard, the citizen will be asked to surrender his passport to the police in accordance with the Danish Aliens Act. The visa will be granted in a few days.

Citizens need to take a photo (or have a copy) of their passport document before handing it over to the police.

The police officer will notify the citizen to apply at the agreed time to the specific police station where the emergency visa will be issued. Prior to the issuance of a visa, citizens must remain at the address they reported to the police at the time of arrival (ie place of residence / stay in Denmark). After completing the visa formalities, the police will return the passport document.

The Folketing of Denmark has passed a special bill that allows Ukrainians to legalize their stay in Denmark and obtain the appropriate status of a displaced person under an accelerated procedure. Ukrainians who fled the war and ended up in Denmark will be able to obtain a residence permit immediately, which will allow them to get an education, get a job and receive social benefits.

The normative act stipulates that the residence permit will be issued for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension.

It will apply to Ukrainian citizens and persons who had refugee status in Ukraine before the war, as well as close members of their families.

Importantly! Ukrainian IDPs can officially work in Denmark even before obtaining an official residence permit. If you have applied for residence in Denmark under the Special Law for Displaced Persons from Ukraine, submitted fingerprints, took photos and received a receipt, you can go to work from April 22, 2022.

Aid

Access to health facilities in the host country is available only to persons who have a residence permit in the country or have received the appropriate refugee status or a person in need of subsidiary protection.
