Do I need a visa to enter Hungary?

Ukrainians can enter Hungary without a visa with a biometric passport as tourists or with any Ukrainian identity document as refugees.

From Ukraine, you can enter Hungary even without documents, then you need to register with the migration service in Debrecen (about 100 km from the border) and obtain the appropriate temporary documents. The necessary instructions are provided at the border.

Yes, Green Card insurance is mandatory for everyone who travels abroad by car, for refugees and tourists.

A Green Card is a necessary insurance for traveling by car outside Ukraine for safe travel. It takes a few minutes to apply for an insurance policy. All you need to do is follow the link, provide the necessary data and pay for the service.

Do I need insurance to enter Hungary?

Yes, you need insurance to enter Hungary for tourist purposes, regardless of whether you are traveling from Ukraine or other countries. Refugees from Ukraine do not need insurance.

Temporary protection for refugees

To apply for temporary protection status or refugee status, please contact the Hungarian Migration Service, Budapest: +36 1 463 9100, 1117 Budapest, Budafoki út 60.

If a person is granted refugee status in Hungary, it will be impossible to obtain such status in other EU countries.

It is possible to cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border without a biometric passport or other valid documents. After entering Hungary without a biometric passport, you need to contact the nearest migration authorities, which are referred by the border police on the Hungarian side.

What are the conditions of social security for Ukrainians?

Persons who arrive in Hungary are provided with temporary housing, meals, and free emergency medical care. Employment is subject to the general rules applicable to foreigners. Travel by Hungarian railways and public transport in the city of Budapest is free of charge for such persons.

What should I do if my passport expires?

IMPORTANT!

The Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary and the Consulate of Ukraine in Nyiregyhaza temporarily extend the validity of Ukrainian passports for traveling abroad and enter data on children under 16 years of age in the passport.

To extend the validity of a passport, the applicant submits an existing passport. The passport can be renewed no earlier than three months before its expiration date. To enter data about a child in the passport, the applicant shall submit the following documents:

- A valid foreign passport.

- A child's birth certificate.

- Two photos 3.5×4.5 cm.

- A document confirming the authority of the person as a legal representative (if necessary).

These consular actions are carried out during the reception hours of the institutions (working days from 8.00 to 14.00, weekends - 9.00-13.00); free of charge on the day of application.

What should you do if you have a child with you without a passport?

Information about the child can be added to the foreign passport of one of the parents, for which the applicant submits the following documents:

A valid foreign passport.

A child's birth certificate.

Two photos 3.5×4.5 cm.

A document confirming the authority of the person as a legal representative (if necessary).

These consular actions are being carried out:

during the reception hours of the institutions (every working day from 8.00 to 12.00);

free of charge on the day of application.

What are the rules for crossing the border with pets for Ukrainians?

It is possible to cross the border with pets. If there are not enough documents, vaccines, etc. when crossing the border, the animals are allowed to cross under the owner's own obligation to properly arrange everything necessary in the country of destination.
