Do I need a visa to enter Liechtenstein?

Ukrainians can enter Liechtenstein without a visa with a biometric passport as tourists or with any Ukrainian identity document as refugees.

The same rules apply to entry into the Principality of Liechtenstein as for Switzerland;

Do I need a Green Card to drive a car now?

Yes, Green Card insurance is mandatory for everyone who travels abroad by car, for refugees and tourists.

A Green Card is a necessary insurance for traveling by car outside Ukraine for safe travel. It takes a few minutes to apply for an insurance policy. All you need to do is follow the link, provide the necessary data and pay for the service.

Do I need insurance to enter Liechtenstein?

Yes, to enter Liechtenstein for tourist purposes, you need insurance, regardless of whether you are traveling from Ukraine or other countries. Refugees are not required to have insurance.

Social assistance

You will receive social benefits, pocket money, accommodation and support, as well as your compulsory health insurance costs will be covered.

Are you traveling to Liechtenstein with pets?

You are allowed to bring your dog or cat with you, but you must register them with the Food and Veterinary Authority (Amt für Lebensmittelkontrolle und Veterinärwesen (ALKVW) as soon as possible: Postplatz 2 9494 Schaan, [email protected]). We cannot guarantee that you will be able to stay with your pet. You will receive the appropriate forms from the Liechtenstein authorities and the Liechtenstein Refugee Council upon entry into the country.

On March 15, 2022, the Liechtenstein authorities activated a special protection status for the situation in Ukraine, the so-called temporary protection status. With this status, refugees from Ukraine, after a short administrative process, receive the right to reside in Liechtenstein for a period of 1 year (with the possibility of extension), without the need to go through the standard asylum procedure.

If you are already in Liechtenstein and would like to apply for this protection status, you can call the local migration authorities at +423 236 6141 or send an email to [email protected] to make an appointment. Alternatively, you can go to the Aliens and Passport Office (Ausländer- und Passamt) during office hours or to a police station, but you may have to wait for a while. Once you have been granted temporary protection status, you will be able to get free accommodation if you are unable to find private accommodation.

Work

Once you have been granted a residence permit, you will be allowed to work in Liechtenstein (as an employee or self-employed). As soon as you find a job, you will need to submit your employment contract to the Liechtenstein Council for Refugees, which, in coordination with the Liechtenstein authorities, will give you permission to start your activity.

The salary you will receive will be regulated by the Liechtenstein Refugee Council. You will only receive a certain part of it.  The rest will be used to cover the costs of the social assistance you have received;

Education

The Liechtenstein Refugee Council is responsible for registering children for school. Children may have to wait up to a maximum of 30 days before they can go to school. Traveling outside of Liechtenstein

With your residence permit and passport, you can travel freely within the Schengen area and return to Liechtenstein without prior permission from the Liechtenstein authorities under certain conditions. In this case, the rules of entry to the respective countries of destination apply.  Your main place of residence will remain Liechtenstein.
