Do Ukrainian citizens need a visa to enter South Korea?

All Ukrainians need a visa to enter South Korea (including refugees).

Tourist visa to South Korea for Ukrainians

A tourist visa to the Republic of Korea allows you to stay in the country for up to 30 days. The corridor of such a visa is 90 days. The corridor in Korean visas is set upon submission of the passport to the consular section.

A short-term visa to the Republic of Korea (C-3) provides for the following purposes of visit:

Tourism;
Visiting exhibitions;
Attending seminars;
Visiting festivals;
Business;
Visas for sailors;
Visiting friends/relatives;
Participation in sports competitions;
Transit.

Required documents:

1. International passport with at least two blank pages and valid for 6 months after returning from South Korea). If you have a second valid or previously canceled passport, it is advisable to provide it to confirm your travel history.

2. 1 color photo (35 x 45 mm) on a light background (taken no later than 3 months before submission, face size should be 25-35 mm).

7. A document confirming your status and source of income:

Employees provide:

- original Certificate from the place of work with an average monthly salary of UAH 5000 or more, indicating the amount of salary for the last 6 months (income statement).

Entrepreneurs provide:

- a copy of the extract or certificate of registration of a private entrepreneur;

- a copy of the taxpayer's certificate;

- a copy of the tax return or report for the last quarter or a certificate of income from the tax office.

Pensioners provide:

- a photocopy of the pension certificate;

- original extract from the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).

Students provide:

- a photocopy of the student card;

- a certificate from the place of education.

8. The original bank certificate on the availability of funds in the account, with a balance of at least $ 2000 per person and a statement of the account balance for the last 3 months. If the account is a deposit account, the account balance must be at least $3000 per person.

For children traveling with their parents:

1. A passport valid for at least 6 months with at least two blank pages (valid for 6 months after returning from South Korea). If you have a second valid or previously canceled passport, it is advisable to provide it to confirm your travel history.

2. 1 color photo (35 x 45 mm) on a light background (taken no later than 3 months before submission, face size should be 25-35 mm).

3. The original notarized Permission for the child to travel abroad, if traveling with one of the parents or accompanied by a third party.

4. Original certificate from the educational institution confirming the consent of the child to travel abroad within the specified period.

5. A copy of the birth certificate.

6. Documents of the sponsor (close relatives, father, mother, siblings, etc.):

Original notarized sponsorship letter.
Original Certificate from the place of work (salary from 5000 UAH), indicating the amount of salary for the last 6 months (income statement) for salaried applicants,
or for Entrepreneurs:

- a copy of the extract or certificate of registration of a Private Entrepreneur;

- a copy of the taxpayer's certificate;

- a copy of the tax return or report for the last quarter or a certificate of income from the tax office.

7. The original bank certificate confirming the availability of funds on the account, with a balance of at least $2000 per person and a statement of account movements for the last 3 months. If the account is a deposit account, the account balance must be at least $ 3000 per person.

1. When entering Korea

Korea has a system of "red" and "green corridors". The "green corridor" is intended for persons transporting goods that are not subject to customs duties and taxes. If you are in doubt whether you need to declare the goods you are importing, it is recommended to choose the "red corridor" to avoid possible misunderstandings.

The goods subject to declaration should be packed in such a way that they can be easily presented to the customs officer if necessary.

Important! It is strongly discouraged to move luggage belonging to unauthorized persons. If such goods turn out to be prohibited or restricted for import, it is the person who directly moves them who will be liable for the offense.

It is prohibited to provide false or incomplete information to the customs authorities. Such actions are subject to various penalties up to and including confiscation of goods.

Duty-free importation

Goods that do not exceed $400 are imported into Korea free of duty and taxes. If the value of the imported goods exceeds this limit, customs duties are paid only for the excess.

In addition to the above, you are also allowed to import duty-free:

1 liter of alcoholic beverages (worth less than $400);
2 ounces of perfumes (~56.6 g)
200 cigarettes;
50 cigars;
250 g of tobacco.

Personal property (clothing, toiletries, personal jewelry, including wristwatches) is allowed to be imported duty-free, provided that:

the goods are intended for personal use;
the goods will not be used by other persons, not intended as a gift, for sale or exchange for other goods.
Members of the same family are allowed to summarize the quotas belonging to each individual.

Goods intended as gifts are included in the total amount of $400 for which exemption from customs and taxes is granted.

In case a person moves goods in excess of the established quotas, it is necessary to declare the goods and pay customs duties, namely, customs duty, VAT, and special taxes. In this case, a simplified duty rate of 20 to 55% is applied.

Customs duties and taxes are calculated as a percentage of the contractual value of the goods (the price at which the goods were purchased). If the value of the goods cannot be determined, it is determined at the discretion of the customs officer. Payments are accepted only in Korean won. A person may not pay customs duties by credit card or other means.

The following are subject to declaration:

goods in excess of the established quotas;
goods intended for sale in Korea;
foreign currency and other means of payment totaling more than $10,000.

Restricted goods for import:

edged and firearms, ammunition, explosives;
narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as any preparations containing such substances;
goods made from materials of animals that enjoy special protection and whose use is restricted or prohibited;
goods, the import of which is restricted by the quarantine service (food, animals and plant materials);
animals, plants protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as well as their derivatives.

Restrictions on goods may be imposed for reasons of public safety and welfare of the state, as well as to protect national fauna and flora. A special permit is required to import such goods into the country.

Goods prohibited for importation:

books, publications
images, films and other materials with pornographic content;
any materials that may be considered as violating the constitutional order, public security and traditional foundations;
counterfeit coins, banknotes, and negotiable instruments.

The following documents must be submitted when declaring goods:

passport
airline ticket;
customs declaration (if required).

2. When leaving Korea

Duties and taxes are not paid on goods that do not exceed $400.

In addition, a person has the right to additionally export the following goods without paying customs duties within the specified restrictions:

1 liter of alcoholic beverages
200 cigarettes
50 cigars;
2 ounces of perfumes (~56.6 g);
250 g of tobacco products. Alcoholic beverages may be exported by persons aged 20 and over, and cigarettes by persons aged 19 and over.
The amount of exported foreign or Korean currency exceeding $10,000 must be declared.

When transporting souvenirs purchased in Korea, you should be aware that any restrictions and prohibitions may apply to materials of animal and plant origin. It is recommended to provide such goods to customs officials for inspection.

If a person exports expensive items (computers, video and photo cameras) from Korea with the intention of further importing goods, such goods are subject to declaration. One of the possible proofs of ownership of the imported goods may be a receipt for the goods.

Goods subject to mandatory declaration when exported from Korea:

Animals, plants protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as well as their derivatives;
Korean and foreign currency with a value exceeding USD 10,000;
firearms and ammunition;
objects of cultural and historical heritage.

The export of these goods is subject to a permit.
