From January 1, 2024, all Ukrainian cars in the Czech Republic are subject to mandatory registration, including those owned by Ukrainians with temporary protection status (ZDP) and tolerance visas. Ignoring this rule entails the imposition of administrative liability and a fine of up to 30,000 CZK.
We will tell you about the features of registering Ukrainian cars in the Czech Republic in this article.
Are you going abroad by car? Don't forget about your Green Card! At Visit Ukraine, you can choose from offers from various insurers and apply for insurance in 5 minutes.
Why do Ukrainians with ZDP need to register a car in the Czech Republic?
The Czech Ministry of Transport emphasizes that while under ZDP, driving a car without registration is prohibited.
Newly arrived refugees are given 7 days from the moment of receiving temporary protection to register a car.
At the same time, replacing Ukrainian license plates with Czech ones is not required - after successful registration, you can continue to use Ukrainian license plates.
The registration procedure was introduced to increase control over foreign vehicles and improve the regulation of traffic violations, because during registration the driver's actual address of residence must be indicated.
If you do not register a car, you can get a fine, which will be issued by the police immediately after stopping an unregistered car.
