Rules of entry to Mexico for Ukrainians
How can Ukrainian citizens obtain an ETA permit to Mexico?
Citizens of Ukraine who want to visit Mexico must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in the country.
What is the Mexican ETA?
ETA is an electronic authorization to enter Mexico that is issued online. It eliminates the need to apply through a Mexican consulate and is currently available only to citizens of Ukraine, Turkey, and Russia.
This method of travel allows you to travel without a visa for the purposes of tourism, transit through Mexico, business (e.g., meetings, visits, training or consultations in Mexico), religious activities, technical activities, work for a company in Mexico), charitable activities, sports, transportation of goods, medical care, attending fairs and/or conferences, as well as research that does not involve a period exceeding 180 days.
The electronic permit is free of charge, valid for one entry with a maximum stay of 180 days.
Follow the link to the official website of the National Institute of Migration to fill out an application for an electronic permit, no earlier than 30 days later.
What documents are required to apply for an ETA?
All Ukrainian citizens must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Mexico to apply for an ETA.
In addition, Ukrainian citizens may need to provide documentary evidence of their travel plans. This usually includes:
• Hotel reservations
• A return ticket for departure from Mexico within 180 days
• A letter of invitation to stay with friends, family, etc.
You may also need to confirm a source of funds (solvency) that covers all your expenses during your stay in Mexico. Bank statements, credit card balances, proof of cash, or other forms of financial security are acceptable.
If you are traveling to Mexico for business or study purposes, you must provide appropriate documents that confirm your intention and that your visit will not exceed 180 days. Valid documents may include proof of acceptance to a course of study or relevant business documents.
You will be informed at the time of application if supporting documents are required. In this case, your application will be put on hold until all requested documents are submitted online.

How much money do you need to cross the border?
When entering Mexico, border services may check that you have sufficient funds to stay in the country. There is no officially established minimum amount, but it is recommended that you have approximately 50–100 USD per day and/or confirmation of paid accommodation and a return ticket.
If you are bringing in cash or financial instruments worth more than USD 10,000 (or equivalent), you must declare them in accordance with customs regulations.
⚠️ Please note!
When entering Mexico, you may be asked to confirm your readiness for the trip, including proof of medical insurance that covers the entire period of your stay, not just your flight dates.
If you go to the hospital, treatment for foreigners is paid for, so an insurance policy helps you avoid significant expenses while traveling.
