Staying in mass accommodation centers for refugees in Poland will soon be paid for. Ukrainians will pay 50% of the cost of living on their own from mid-November.

Pavel Šefernaker, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Government Commissioner for Refugees, said that Poland cannot bear all the costs of keeping refugees, so the authorities are forced to introduce payment. The Polish government expects that Ukrainians will be able to pay for accommodation, since most of them are already employed.

Will all refugees pay for housing?

Pensioners, people with disabilities and single mothers with many children will be exempted from payment. The government will announce whether benefits will be granted to other categories in the near future.

As you know, there are currently 80,000 people in refugee accommodation centers. One of the largest such centers is located in the city of Nadazhyn - about 2,000 people live there.
