Refugees and commercial activity: features
According to French law, persons with temporary protection status can register as an individual-entrepreneur or as a manager of a legal entity.
How to register a company?
First, submit a relevant application. A simplified application for acquiring the status of an "auto-entrepreneur" can be sent through the website Guichetentreprises.fr.
The list of documents for opening your own business depends on the type of activity. In France, some professions are strictly regulated by law, and some professionals are prohibited from working as private entrepreneurs.
For more detailed information on entrepreneurship, read this brochure (information available in French only).
The next step is registration in the Register of Trade and Enterprises (Registre du commerce et des sociétés) or in the list of professions (Répertoire des métiers / RM). Where exactly you will be registered depends on the type of activity.
Importantly! Certain specialists must have relevant qualifications or professional experience. This applies to the following industries:
• construction;
• automotive business;
• nutrition;
• hairdressing, cosmetology and aesthetic services.
If your company consists of one person, you need to register with the Register of Commerce and Companies (Registre du commerce et des sociétés). This can be done at the Center for Administrative Services for Enterprises (Centre des formalités des entreprises/CFE) or at the Commercial Tribunal (Tribunal de commerce). Data can also be entered online at entreprises.fr.
In terms of terms, business registration in France does not take more than 30 days.
A significant niche of the country's economy is occupied by small business. Currently, more than 3,000,000 small businesses are registered, which largely fill the service market segment. The distinction of such an enterprise is the presence of hired employees in the number of less than 50 employees. In addition, in relation to small enterprises, the country's legislation provides for a significant number of programs that stimulate this type of business, as well as significant tax breaks.
