Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for over a year. The aggressor spends huge financial resources on it. Find out more about how long the russian economy will be able to finance the fighting in Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, the economy of the russian federation has suffered huge losses due to sanctions imposed by Western countries. However, the russian army continues its aggression, despite huge financial losses. The leaked Pentagon documents make it clear how long the kremlin will be able to finance the bloodshed of Ukrainians.
According to the Washington Post, which was able to analyze classified documents from the US Department of Defense, putin will be able to finance the war against Ukraine for at least another year, even under sanctions pressure.
In addition, the United States believes that some of russia's elite do not agree with moscow's criminal actions, but despite this, they are unlikely to give up their support for the dictator. At the same time, russian officials, according to the analysis, are adapting to economic constraints quite quickly.
Is russia's economy on the verge of collapse?
US intelligence also found that in early March, russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov planned to send a letter to the head of the government asking him to draw up a plan for a "potentially embarrassing collapse" of russian state structures due to the impact of sanctions.
According to leaked documents, the FSB is concerned about the lack of foreign currency in russian banks. russian officials also called for silence on relations with Chinese companies that are still doing business in the aggressor country. They fear that the United States may impose sanctions against them.
It's worth noting that russians are the loudest in saying that the West's sanctions policy allegedly "has no effect on the russian economy," but Washington believes otherwise and argues that people who claim that sanctions have not affected them are complaining about their unfairness. That is, they are trying to get them lifted.
The labor force in russia is running out
If we look at the situation in russia from another angle, the economy of this country suffers not only from sanctions, but also from the actions of the criminal authorities of this country. For example, according to U.S. intelligence documents, some russian officials are concerned about the growing shortage of labor among the civilian population due to the sending of men to war.
According to intercepts of russian military conversations, putin allegedly supported a proposal to "secretly engage" 400,000 more soldiers for the war in Ukraine in 2023.
It is important to take into account the fact that during the full-scale aggression, the russian army has already lost between 189,500 and 223,000 people, including both killed and seriously wounded.
It is also worth noting that last year, the russians decided to increase the size of the armed forces to 1.5 million people by drafting an additional 415,000 people. Given all these figures, it can be assumed that soon the male population capable of doing regular work will be significantly reduced, which will also have a critical impact on the russian economy.
Questions about russia's economic stability arose even before the start of the full-scale war with Ukraine. The whole world is well aware that, apart from moscow and a couple of other cities, the country is engulfed in poverty and unemployment. But the leadership of the russian federation, despite the survival of its citizens, prefers to steal money or invest it in the murder of civilians in other countries.
Earlier, we wrote that russian citizens are being advised to leave the country amid new rules for issuing summonses. Here we analyze what happened and what happened to their heroism and love for their homeland.
