Ukrainian culture and nature attract tourists despite military risks and closed airspace. Foreigners travel to the cities of Ukraine and explore the Carpathians. The most visited places of the state include Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Lake Synevir, Shipit waterfall, etc.

Despite the martial law, Ukraine's borders are working normally. Tourists have the right to unimpeded entry into the state.

Italian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Ukraine. A visa-free regime is established between the states. To cross the Ukrainian border, it is enough to present the appropriate package of documents.

Details about the visa regime and the rules for crossing the Ukrainian border by Italians can be found below.

It should be noted that more than 12 thousand tourists from Italy visited Ukraine in the first half of 2023.

Do Italian citizens need a visa to Ukraine?

Italian citizens have the right to cross the Ukrainian border without a visa if their journey meets the following requirements:

- the period of stay in Ukraine should not exceed 90 days every 180 days;

- travel is allowed only for the purpose of tourism, private visits, short-term business meetings, participation in conferences, etc.

● List of documents for crossing the border on the basis of visa-free:

- valid foreign passport;

health insurance policy;

- confirmation of the purpose of the trip: hotel reservations, apartment rental contracts, travel vouchers, invitations/tickets to seminars, exhibitions, fairs, documents on medical treatment, written confirmation of a meeting, conference, invitations from companies and organizations, etc.

- sufficient level of financial support ($45 per day per person): cash in hryvnia or other convertible foreign currency, bank cards, statements and checks from ATMs.

- lack of approved decision of the authorized state body of Ukraine to ban entry to Ukraine for this tourist.

It is no longer necessary to provide proof of vaccination when crossing the border and to wear a protective mask, because from July 1, 2023, all quarantine restrictions due to the Covid-19 epidemic were canceled in Ukraine.

When will Italian citizens need a visa to travel to Ukraine?

Italians must obtain a visa to enter Ukraine if the planned stay in Ukraine exceeds 90 days or if the foreigner is going to Ukraine for the purpose of employment or education.

Upon arrival in the country, a residence permit is issued on the basis of a visa. The procedure for its registration in Ukraine consists of several stages and requires the preparation of a certain list of documents. For example, foreigners are hired by employers on the basis of an employment permit. In turn, this permit is the basis for obtaining the appropriate type of Ukrainian visa and a permit for temporary residence in Ukraine, which is valid during the period of validity of the employment permit. Usually, a visa is issued for one year.

This insurance covers damages in the event of an accident due to acts of war or terrorism, outpatient treatment, hospitalization and emergency care.

The insurance policy applies to foreign citizens, subjects of another state and stateless persons. There are no age restrictions. Read more details about the benefits of military risk insurance in Ukraine in our material. You can quickly and easily issue an insurance policy by following the link.
