Which products and services in Ukraine have risen in price the most due to inflation?
According to the State Statistics Service, inflation reached 8.6% over the year, but not all goods have seen their prices rise. Find out more about which services have risen in price and by how much, and which, on the contrary, are currently cheaper
According to the data published on the website of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in July 2023, inflation slowed to 11.3%, which is 1.5% lower than in June and 4% lower than in May. At the same time, according to the latest data from the State Statistics Service, the inflation rate reached 8.6% for the year. For comparison, in 2022, inflation in the consumer market was 26.6%.

How much did prices rise in 2022?
According to official information on the website of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2022 (compared to December 2021), prices for goods and services increased by:
- 31.8% (cost and maintenance of motor vehicles);
- 26.6% (food and non-alcoholic beverages);
- 17.4% (alcoholic beverages and tobacco products);
- 16.1% (household goods, household appliances and housing maintenance);
- 14.1% (educational services);
- 10.9% (prices in the field of recreation and culture);
- 5.1% (cost of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels).
Inflation and prices in 2023
The slowdown in the inflation rate to 8.6% does not negate the rise in the cost of goods and services. Thus, in August (compared to prices in August 2022), prices increased for:
- restaurants and hotels (18.0%)
- tobacco products (17.4%);
- housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (14.2%)
- health care (11.5%);
- education (9.8%);
- food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.4%);
- alcoholic beverages (7.4%);
- household appliances and household goods (7.0%);
- communications (5.2"%);
- transportation and its maintenance (4.2%);
- recreation and culture (3.7%).
At the same time, prices for clothing and footwear, on the contrary, decreased by 1.2%.

How did food prices rise?
According to the State Statistics Service, in January-August 2023 (compared to January-August 2022), prices rose the most for the following categories of goods
- eggs (80.4%);
- fruits (33.8%);
- fish and fish products (27.5%);
- meat and meat products (22.3%);
- vegetables (19.7%);
- sugar (18.6%);
- butter (17.4%);
- cheese and soft cheese (16.6%);
- bread (14.3%);
- milk (13.4%);
- pasta (12.4%).
The smallest price increase was recorded for sunflower oil (2.1%).
At the same time, if we compare prices in August 2023 with July prices, they fell in price:
- vegetables by 37.6%;
- fruits by 4.2%;
- clothing and footwear by 2.3%;
- butter by 0.9%;
- sunflower oil by 0.5%;
- cheese by 0.3%.
Sugar (by 2.0%) and meat and meat products (by 1.2%) went up in price.
