However, there are other exciting locations in Ukraine. Find out more about where to spend a weekend and how much a winter vacation costs
Winter vacations are no less popular than summer trips, because winter is a period of Christmas and New Year holidays, traditions, family comfort and a special fairy-tale atmosphere.
Undoubtedly, for most travelers, a vacation in Ukraine in winter is a trip to the ski resorts of the Carpathians. However, there are still many interesting locations in our country and in other regions of the country that are worth visiting in winter.
So, where to spend your winter vacation and how much will it cost? We will find out further.
Ski resorts of the Carpathians
Traditionally, Ukrainians choose the Carpathians for their winter vacation. People come here for active recreation - skiing, snowboarding, sledding or snowmobiling. For this purpose, a number of resorts have been built in the region, the most popular of which is Bukovel, where 68 km of trails of varying difficulty, a toboggan run and an ice rink are available for skiing. Also, many events are held in Bukovel and there are many entertainments and attractions for a family vacation.
The snow cover on the slopes of the resort is maintained with the help of a special snow cannon.
There are many hotels and spa complexes located around the slopes and in the vicinity of Bukovel. The advantage of the resort is a highly developed infrastructure.
Equally popular Carpathian resorts are:
- Dragobrat is the highest mountain resort of the Carpathians, located in the urban-type village of Yasinya, Rakhiv district, Transcarpathian region. Its slopes are mainly used by experienced skiers.
- Slavske is the oldest ski resort located on Mount Trostyan in the Lviv region. There are 11 trails of varying difficulty.
- Pylypets is the second highest resort in Ukraine. It is located in Mizhhirsky District of Zakarpattia Oblast. The total length of the tracks is 20 km.
- Play.
- Yasinya.
- Verkhovyna.
- Apple tree and others.
Prices in the Carpathians vary greatly, so if your goal is to find an inexpensive vacation in Ukraine in winter, you should pay attention to less popular resorts, where you can have a better time than in the most popular places, although losing a little in service.

When planning a vacation, a traveler always chooses between independent travel organization and booking a tour from an operator.

It is also necessary to additionally take care of paying for meals, insurance, round-trip tickets, as well as transfers to slopes, cultural and natural attractions, and other tourist attractions.
At the same time, the cost of a 7-day tour to Bukovel for one tourist is about 11,000 hryvnias, but this includes bus travel according to the route, accommodation in a hotel/cottage/private estate, meals during the tour (breakfast + dinner + daily coffee - Carpathian break) , daily transfer (moving) from the places of residence to the slopes of Bukovel and back, escort services/administrative service of the tour, tourist insurance. Peculiarities of the winter vacation in Ukraine during the war
When planning a trip to Ukraine during the war, it is worth choosing regions that are further away from the war zone. Therefore, most tourists prefer to travel to the West of Ukraine. A good geographical position next to the EU and NATO member countries and the absence of a large number of military and critical infrastructure facilities in the region, which can come under targeted attacks by the Russian Federation, make this region one of the best places for a relaxing vacation in Ukraine.
Zakarpattia Oblast is currently recognized as one of the safest regions of Ukraine. There is not even a curfew here, and a considerable number of cities did not hear a single explosion during the Russian invasion.
Kyiv is also the most protected city in Ukraine, thanks to the Western air defense systems installed here.
