Despite the ongoing hostilities, a significant number of Ukrainians are planning to travel to reboot and gain strength. Find out more about where Ukrainians will spend their summer vacation and what priorities they prioritize when choosing a vacation destination in 2024
Today we would like to share the results of a study conducted by Gradus for Ribas Hotels Group on summer vacation in Ukraine. The study surveyed 450 men and women aged 18 to 55 living in Ukrainian cities with a population of more than 50 thousand people and an average income.
Keep reading to find out which tourist regions are the most popular, why Ukrainians are traveling more often, and what are the top priorities when choosing a vacation destination in the summer of 2024.

Last and planned vacation
The last vacation of 80% of respondents was in Ukraine. 55% of respondents had their last vacation back in 2023.
51% of respondents plan to spend their summer vacation in Ukraine. For the target audience aged 18-24, this figure is even higher and amounts to 72%.
33% of respondents had 3 vacations in the last 3 years, and 30% of respondents had 2 vacations in the same period of time.
As for the duration of the vacation, 35% of respondents took 4-7 days of vacation during the year, and 36% of respondents took 1-2 weeks. In the summer of 2024, 34% of respondents plan to spend 4-7 days on vacation, and 43% of respondents plan to spend 1 to 2 weeks on vacation.

Vacations during the war
85% of respondents have a positive attitude towards traveling in Ukraine even during martial law. A larger proportion of respondents (66%) also have a positive attitude towards vacations abroad during the war.
Another question in the survey concerned priority security measures at vacation destinations. The answers were divided as follows:
1. Shelters and bunkers near hotels or tourist attractions - 75%;
2. Food supplies in case of emergency - 64%;
3. Emergency notification systems - 62%;
4. Informing tourists about security measures - 60%;
5. Availability of evacuation plans - 59%;
6. Staff training in first aid skills - 57%;
7. Training of personnel in evacuation - 56%.

Places to stay
Most respondents choose family hotels for both their upcoming (30%) and previous (29%) vacations. When asked about the most popular regions of Ukraine for spending vacations in 2023, 12% of respondents chose Zakarpattia, and 11% chose Lviv region.
In 2024, 12% of respondents plan to spend their vacation in Lviv, 12% in Zakarpattia, 11% of respondents want to relax in Odesa, and 10% in the Carpathians. The most important criteria for choosing a city to spend a vacation were the natural environment, affordable price, and security situation.

Additional services from hotels
Respondents noted the following popular additional services from hotels:
1. Tastings of local products and dishes - 41%;
2. Excursions to places of interest and cultural attractions - 35%;
3. Wellness and treatment programs - 33%;
4. Hotel mobile application with wide functionality - 28%.
85% of respondents noted that they are ready to choose a previously unknown hotel if it offers at least one of the listed additional services.
