Camping holiday is a great way to live in harmony with nature without losing comfort. Such leisure is widespread in Europe and the USA, but it is only gaining popularity in Ukraine.

In this article, we talk about the advantages of vacationing in a tent city and the best places for camping in Ukraine.

Why should you stay at a campsite?

A camping vacation has many advantages, the main one of which is the opportunity to relax comfortably in nature. You can get to the tent city by car, so you can easily take an unlimited amount of equipment (camping furniture, camping kitchen, hammocks, etc.). Some tented campsites offer additional amenities: toilet, shower, power outlet, garbage cans. Also, mobility is not lost in an emergency situation.

Types of campsites

Campsites in Ukraine can be divided into three types:

- Natural or wild campsites are any wild places for recreation with a tent, where it is convenient to stay. There are no fees for accommodation and responsible persons in such towns. The infrastructure is also lacking.

- Conditionally organized campsites - at these locations, a minimal fee can be charged for setting up a tent or parking a car. The scope of amenities is different – from an exclusively equipped fire place to organized gazebos, toilets and a summer shower.

- Organized tourist campsites are places where you can find the maximum available infrastructure for a comfortable stay in nature: places for making fires and barbecues, kitchen utensils, gazebos, benches, showers and toilets, common rest areas, drinking and technical water, electricity, etc. You can also usually rent any equipment here - a tent, watercraft, as well as book a hike, excursion or rafting.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a campsite in Ukraine?

When choosing a campsite, be sure to pay attention to the following conditions:

- Availability of equipment - tourists without experience should choose organized tourist campsites with all the necessary infrastructure, experienced travelers can relax in wild campsites in remote areas.

- Tourist places nearby - tourist trails, historical or natural attractions, reservoirs, the possibility of rafting or going on a hike.

- Activities in the camping area - some tent cities are not inferior to real festivals in terms of entertainment, so if you are looking for a more relaxed vacation, choose your place to stop carefully.

- Location – some campsites are in remote areas with no roads, consider the capabilities of your vehicle to get there.

Useful tips for tourists planning a camping holiday

We have collected some tips from experienced travelers that will help make your camping vacation as comfortable as possible:

- Before the trip, check the specifics of how to get there and the possibility of parking a car near the tent or in the parking lot. Some locations are difficult to reach by car, and carrying a lot of things to the parking lot can be difficult.

- If you travel by public transport, take into account that some campsites offer a shuttle service.

- If there is electricity at the campsite, take an extension cord with you.

- Find out about available cooking equipment (shared dishes, etc.).

- At most campsites you can buy or collect firewood, but it is better to clarify this point.

- Take your ID with you or set up "Action".

- Build a fire only in clearly defined places. Some campsites do not allow fires, and there are barbecues or stoves for cooking. For making tea or coffee, it is better to take a gas burner or an integrated cooking system with you.

- Do not leave trash behind.

- If possible, set up tents in the shade a little further from toilets, showers and garbage cans.
