Ukrainian students can receive a grant to study on the Diia platform: what is known
Ukraine has introduced a new initiative to support students studying on a contract basis. Using the Diia platform, you can now receive a state grant to pay for your education. Find out more about who is eligible and how to get the money
Thanks to a new service launched on the Diia platform, Ukrainian students enrolled in contract education now have the opportunity to receive government grants to pay for their education. This initiative is an important step in reforming the system of financial support for students and creates new opportunities for studying at Ukrainian higher education institutions.
In our previous article, we told you that the Irish government announced the abolition of tuition fees for students from Ukraine.
Details of the new grant for higher education
To apply for a grant, you need to follow the following algorithm:
1. A message about the possibility of applying for a grant will appear in the applicant's account;
2. After that, you need to choose a university and an educational program for admission;
3. The application for a grant must be submitted through the account in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education;
4. After receiving a notification of grant approval, you need to leave an application on the Diia portal;
5. Funds for tuition fees will be transferred to a special account annually throughout the entire period of study.
Who is eligible for grants?
The grants are available to full-time or dual enrollment students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in medicine, veterinary medicine, or pharmacy. For the first time, contract students will receive financial assistance from the state, which is a significant support for those who seek higher education.
Conditions for receiving the grant
The amount of the grant depends on the results of the National Multisubject Test (NMT). Here are the main criteria for receiving a grant:
150 points and above in any two NMT subjects - a grant of UAH 15,000.
170 points and above - a grant of UAH 25,000.
In addition, the amount of the grant may vary depending on the coefficient associated with the specialty. This allows us to increase financial aid for students who choose priority specialties for the country's development.

How to get a grant through Diia?
The process of getting a grant is quite simple and intuitive:
1. Update the Diia app to the latest version.
2. In the documents section, find the “Training Certificate”.
3. Click “Get a grant”.
4. Confirm the operation using the electronic signature “Diia.Signature”.
5. Activate the grant application by November 5.
After activating the application, students will receive a notification from Diia when the money is transferred to the chosen university.
When choosing a specialty, most applicants were forced to focus on the number of budget places, forgetting about their own dreams. Not every family has the financial means to pay for education. The new grant will provide children with freedom of choice.
And for universities, it is another incentive to compete, because the more applicants, the bigger the budget of the educational institution. This approach has long been used in the United States and other countries with a high level of education.
We remind you! Starting September 2024, Lithuania will no longer cover the tuition fees for students from Ukraine. Read more about the new decision of the Lithuanian government.
