A Green Card is a mandatory insurance policy that guarantees reliable protection abroad. This document is mandatory for all vehicles planning to cross the border. It provides coverage for damages caused to other road users in the event of an accident. We'll tell you whether you need a Green Card for trailers and semi-trailers to travel abroad, how much it costs and how to apply for it in this article.

What is a Green Card and how does the policy work?

If you have a Green Card, the insurance company assumes responsibility for compensating for material damage that your vehicle may cause during a trip abroad. It is crucial to understand that the insurance coverage applies only to damage caused to other road users, but not to damage to the vehicle owner. In other words, if you accidentally damage another driver's car abroad, the insurance company will compensate the injured party, not you personally.

At the same time, it should be understood that it is impossible to travel outside Ukraine in a vehicle with Ukrainian registration without a valid Green Card - border control will necessarily check for such an insurance policy.

Green Card: insurance for trailers and semi-trailers

The Green Card is a mandatory insurance policy that is required for travelling abroad with any vehicle, including trailers and semi-trailers. This important document provides insurance coverage when crossing borders and travelling in European countries.

Many truck and car owners often forget that a Green Card is required not only for the main vehicle, but also for the trailer. If you are planning to travel abroad with a trailer or semi-trailer, an insurance policy is a must.
