Citizens of Ukraine need to calculate in advance their actions in connection with the expiration of temporary protection in the Czech Republic. In particular, the country offers refugees the option of issuing a special strpeni visa. We tell you about the possibilities of a legal stay in the Czech Republic with the help of such a visa and the conditions for issuing the document.

What is a strpení visa (Vízum strpění) in the Czech Republic?

Strpeni is a special annual visa issued for legal residence and employment in the Czech Republic.

Many Ukrainians, especially those who received such a visa before the start of the war in Ukraine, are concerned about whether their visas are considered temporary protection and whether it is necessary to extend their stay in the country.

In what cases is the strpeni visa considered temporary protection and requires the need for registration?

• You received a visa at the visa center;

• You have received, are receiving, or have been allowed to receive assistance from the Czech Republic;

• The first 150 days of insurance were free;

• You did not issue an employment permit;

• Your visa is not marked D/VS/91, D/SD/91.

When Vízum strpění is not considered temporary protection and the visa is automatically extended?

• To apply for a visa, you filled out an application, paid a stamp duty (300 crowns), attached a photo and provided a document confirming why you cannot leave the Czech Republic at the moment;

• Your visa is marked D/VS/91, D/SD/91;

• You received an employment permit;

• You paid for the insurance yourself.

We will remind you! Refugees from Ukraine temporarily staying in the Czech Republic had to apply for temporary protection in the country. Currently, its validity period is coming to an end, so the question of extending the document arises. Learn about how to do it without a foreign passport or with it at the link.
