In the conditions of martial law, the airspace in Ukraine is closed, but the land borders work as usual. Both Ukrainians and foreigners have the right to enter the territory of the state, the main thing is to comply with migration requirements.

What are the rules of entry to Ukraine for citizens of Ireland? In most cases, Irish people do not need a visa to travel to Ukraine, but there are certain exceptions. We will tell you in detail later.

Does a citizen of Ireland need a visa to Ukraine?

Citizens of Ireland are entitled to visa-free entry to Ukraine if their trip meets the following two requirements:

● the planned length of stay is less than 90 days within a 180-day period;

● the purpose of the trip is tourism, visiting relatives or other short-term trips.

Importantly! It is prohibited to work and study without a visa.

The basis for entering Ukraine is a valid foreign passport. It is also necessary to have:

● health insurance policy;

● a document that will confirm the purpose of the trip to Ukraine - a tourist voucher, tickets to seminars, exhibitions, fairs, invitations from companies and organizations;

● proof of residence – hotel reservations, apartment rental contracts, etc.;

Since July 1, all restrictions and quarantine measures related to the Covid-19 epidemic have been canceled in Ukraine. From now on, foreigners do not need to provide proof of vaccination and wear a protective mask.

When do Irish people need to issue a visa to Ukraine?

If the visit of an Irish citizen to Ukraine does not meet the requirements for visa-free entry, i.e. you plan to work in Ukraine, get an education or the duration of your trip is more than 90 days, then for such a trip it is necessary to obtain a visa.

The visa is issued before entering Ukraine at the embassy or consulate of the state. Apply for a long-term visa (type "D") three months before your planned trip to Ukraine.

After arriving in Ukraine on the basis of a visa, you need to obtain a residence permit. The procedure for obtaining a residence permit in Ukraine consists of several stages and requires the preparation of a certain list of documents. A migration lawyer will help you understand all the intricacies of Ukrainian legislation.
