A full-scale war has been going on in Ukraine for more than two years. During this period, most citizens have contributed to the army by making donations and providing other assistance to the Armed Forces. However, it is not only ordinary Ukrainians who help the Ukrainian military, but also the cities of Ukraine, which allocate money from their budgets for the country's defence.

Last year, the regional centres of Ukraine allocated UAH 19.5 billion to help the Armed Forces. Almost half of this - 9 billion - was allocated by Kyiv. However, the capital is not even in the top three on the list of "generous" cities.

Kyiv has the largest municipal budget in the country and is the main city "sponsoring" the army, but this is due to the fact that the Ukrainian capital is able to allocate significant funds for these purposes. At the same time, the Ukrainian capital is not in the top 3 in terms of percentage.

By the way, thousands of foreigners come to Ukraine every month to support Ukrainians and make their own contribution to helping the country. Read here to find out how you can do it in the most useful and safe way.

List of top cities by percentage of the budget

The highest rates of support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a percentage of their own budgets are demonstrated by the following cities:

- Zhytomyr (38%);

- Khmelnytskyi (37%);

- Poltava (14%).

At the same time, Kyiv ranks fourth in this list with 14%.

They are leaders among Ukraine's regional centres and contribute a significant portion of their financial resources to meet the needs of the Armed Forces.

The next group of cities allocates about 10% of their budgets to support the Armed Forces. This list includes the following cities:

- Cherkasy;

- Mykolaiv

- Ivano-Frankivsk;

- Chernihiv.

Odesa and Rivne allocate about 9% of their budgets to support the Armed Forces. The ranking is rounded out by Kropyvnytskyi, Uzhhorod, Dnipro, Lutsk, Kherson, Sumy, Lviv, Ternopil, Zaporizhzhia, Vinnytsia and Kharkiv.

We remind you! Ukrainians have recently started to think more often about the fact that the West has begun to forget about the war that Ukraine is going through. This is happening at a very critical moment when the enemy is becoming tougher and more desperate. In this article, we explain how you can help Ukrainians to become part of the common victory.
