On the night of 10 May, the russian army attempted to break through the Ukrainian border in the Kharkiv region, but the occupiers met with fierce resistance from Ukraine. Here's what's happening in the Kharkiv region and what the military is predicting.

The enemy has launched an offensive

On the morning of 10 May, the Ukrainian Defence Forces met the russian army in a battle as it tried to break through into the Kharkiv region. The enemy's offensive was stopped, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"As of 7-8 am, there was a fierce artillery battle. By then, the russian offensive had been stopped," he said.

The Ukrainian president noted that the Armed Forces were prepared for such enemy actions and met them with artillery. According to him, the occupiers could increase their forces in this area, but the Ukrainian military command was aware of the occupiers' plans.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine describes in more detail the enemy's attempts to break through the Ukrainian border. Thus, the operation of putin's army began at 5 am. The occupiers tried to cross the border under the cover of armoured vehicles. To strengthen its positions, Ukraine moved its reserves to this section of the frontline.

The main goal is Vovchansk

Experts believe that the enemy has not yet launched a large-scale offensive, but is only trying to test the defences of the Ukrainian military. It is for this purpose that the enemy conducts such raids or reconnaissance by combat.

The main target of the occupiers' attack was the city of Vovchansk, which has been shelled by the russian army from various weapons since early morning.

According to the British Ministry of Defence intelligence, the goal of the russian troops is to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces 10 kilometres from the russian border, and that Ukrainian defenders are trying to hold them back.

Military personnel from Kharkiv region say that the situation in the direction of Vovchansk was very tense in the morning. At night, the enemy conducted powerful artillery training, and subversive reconnaissance groups tried to probe the border line. But soon, according to the military, russia may deploy major units.

According to some reports, active fighting with russian infantry is currently taking place near the villages of Borysivka, Pilna, and Krasne. There have been unsuccessful attempts by the russian army to attack in the directions of Hoptivka and Strelka.

Meanwhile, local authorities have reported evacuations from Vovchansk and nearby settlements due to massive shelling.

The enemy could capture border villages

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, citing sources in military circles, russian occupation forces have captured four border villages in the Kharkiv region.

It is noted that these are the settlements of Strileche, Krasne, Pylyna and Borysivka. The enemy is trying to advance towards Vovchansk. At the same time, the military does not rule out that this is a distraction. The enemy is also trying to continue to conduct assault operations in the Strileche-Krasne and Pletenivka-Hatyshche areas.

In turn, the head of the National Security and Defence Council's Disinformation Countermeasures Centre, Andriy Kovalenko, noted that such russian activation in Kharkiv region was predictable, but it was not a major offensive on Kharkiv.

"These actions are predictable. The enemy has the resources to escalate the situation in the border areas, as we have previously discussed. It is important not to confuse this with the ability to capture Kharkiv, which is not there," he wrote on Telegram and added that "there will be a lot of misinformation on this topic."

Ukrainians are being warned of new attempts by russia to spread the IPSO, which aims to split Ukrainian society.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are now giving a powerful rebuff to the enemy and, in their opinion, provocations near the Ukrainian border are the only thing the occupiers can do now due to lack of forces.

We remind you! The Ukrainian army continues to undergo personnel changes. The former head of the Armed Forces has been dismissed from military service and will become an ambassador. However, other generals have been promoted to new positions. Read here to find out who was appointed by President Zelenskyy and to what position.
