The Ukrainian Carpathians have always attracted tourists with their picturesque landscapes, fresh air and unique natural attractions. Now, travelling to the mountains will become even easier and more convenient thanks to the launch of a new mountain shuttle that will run next weekend (1 and 2 June) and connect popular tourist destinations: Yaremche, Bukovel, Vorokhta and Rakhiv. Let's find out how the shuttle will run, what you can see and what to do in each of these places.


Mountain shuttle to the Carpathians: timetable 


Train No. 816 Lviv - Vorokhta will depart from Lviv on 31 May and 1 June at 15:22. Departures from other cities will be at the following times:


- Ivano-Frankivsk (17:39 - 17:43);

- Yaremche (19:10 - 19:14);

- Tatariv-Bukovel (19:39 - 19:41);

- Vorokhta 19:52.


Starting from 2 June, the train will continue its route from Vorokhta to Rakhiv with the following timetable: Vorokhta (19:52 - 19:56), Yasinia (20:34 - 20:36), Kvasy (20:59 - 21:01), Rakhiv (21:19). 


Return direction:


In the opposite direction, train No. 815 Rakhiv - Lviv will depart from Rakhiv on 2 June at 03:48, Kvasy 04:07 - 04:09, Yasinia 04:31 - 04:33, Vorokhta 05:12 - 05:18, Tatariv-Bukovel 05:28 - 05:30, Yaremche 06:03 - 06:07, Ivano-Frankivsk 07:50 - 07:55, arriving in Lviv at 10:07. 


And on 1 June, the train will start its route from Vorokhta station (instead of Rakhiv) with a similar timetable.


What to see locally?


Yaremche


Yaremche is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Carpathians. The city is located on the banks of the Prut River and is famous for its natural beauty and cosy atmosphere. Main attractions of Yaremche:


Probiy waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Carpathians, located right in the centre of the city. Its height is about 8 metres and it is a popular place for photos.


Dovbush's Rock is a historical and natural landmark associated with the legends of the Carpathian hero Oleksa Dovbush. Here you can enjoy picturesque views and walk along hiking trails.


The souvenir market is a place where you can buy traditional Carpathian souvenirs, handmade products and delicious local delicacies.

Bukovel


Bukovel is the largest and most popular ski resort in Ukraine. However, in the summer, the resort offers many other attractions:


Cable cars - modern lifts that provide comfortable movement around the resort and offer stunning views of the Carpathians.


Amusement rides - Bukovel has exclusive rides through the forest, as well as a large Ferris wheel that offers gorgeous views.  


SPA centres - an opportunity to relax and recuperate in comfortable spa complexes after an active day on the slopes.


Vorokhta


Vorokhta is a small village that attracts tourists with its historical and natural attractions:


Arched railway bridges - built back in Austrian times, these bridges are unique monuments of architecture and engineering.


The Carpathian National Nature Park is a place where you can enjoy hiking along picturesque routes and explore the unique flora and fauna of the Carpathians.


The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a wooden church of the XVIII century, which is a monument of folk architecture.


Rakhiv


Rakhiv is a town known as the geographical centre of Europe. Here you can not only visit unique natural sites, but also get acquainted with the local culture:


The Geographical Centre of Europe is a symbolic sign that marks the centre of Europe, which is located not far from Rakhiv.


Mount Petros is one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians, popular with hikers.


Trufanets Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Zakarpattia, which is especially beautiful in spring and summer.


The Museum of Mountain Ecology is a museum where you can learn more about the nature of the Carpathians and environmental issues in the region.
