What visas are available for Ukrainians?

Starting from August 1, 2024, the Consular Section of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine resumes issuing the following types of visas for Ukrainian citizens

• single and multiple entry short-term business visas;
  
• single and multiple entry short-stay visitor visas;
  
  

Citizens of Ukraine have the right to apply for these and other types of visas at Japanese embassies in countries bordering Ukraine: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. Citizens of Ukraine who have a long-term residence permit in any other country have the right to apply to the Embassy of Japan in their country of residence.

Before visiting the Embassy of Japan to apply for a visa, please inform the Embassy of your intention to do so. Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit documents online.

How to apply for a visa to Japan?

1. Make an appointment at the Japanese consulate or embassy.

What you can bring to Japan by plane:

• The import and export of local or foreign currency is not limited (amounts equivalent to 1000000 JPY or more are subject to mandatory declaration). Also, gold items of 900 gold standard must be declared if their total weight exceeds 1 kg.
  
• Persons over the age of 20 are allowed to import duty-free up to 400 cigarettes or 100 cigars, or 500 g of tobacco
  
• Up to 56 ml (2 oz) of perfume

What is prohibited to import to Japan.

• Firearms and ammunition (cold steel, hunting and air guns are imported only with the permission of the National Security Service of Japan).
  
• Drugs and psychotropic substances (their importation is punishable by deportation and a lifetime ban on entry into the country).
  
• Certain medicines (especially those containing 1-deoxyephedrine).
  
• Counterfeit securities and banknotes.
  
• Fresh fruits, vegetables and plants, animals and a range of food products of animal and plant origin (primarily meat and meat products, as well as various fruit crops).
  
• Pornographic materials, films or publications containing scenes of violence and cruelty.
  
• Magazines, photographs, drawings and prints with obscene content.
  
• Printed publications and other materials that undermine public order
  
• Counterfeit products, as well as things and items that infringe on trademark, copyright, and patent rights.
