All international students are required to obtain a student card (visa). It is a document issued to applicants (foreign students) (section 30(1) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulations 2012) who wish to continue their studies in educational or training institutions in Kenya where they have been accepted or enrolled. The applicant (international student) must have been accepted as a student by an approved educational institution. The International Division, currently located in the Corporate Affairs Directorate, facilitates the process of obtaining a student pass (visa).

New applicants

• Duly completed, signed and stamped Form 30 by authorized personnel of the educational institution. You can print the form at the end of the student visa application.
• A detailed and signed cover letter addressed to the Director of the Immigration Service from the educational institution indicating the course you wish to study and its duration.
• A signed letter of commitment from the sponsor or sponsoring institution or confirmation of availability of funds for self-funded students
• A copy of the national passport of the sponsor/parent or guardian.
• Copy of a valid national passport (biographical data page)
• Current immigration status of the pupil/student (if in the country)
• Two (2) recent passport size color photographs.
• Duly certified copies of major academic certificates.
• Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English by an embassy, notary or authorized/recognized institution
• Certificate of no criminal record from the Department for Refugees for refugees.
• Police clearance certificate from Ukraine or, if you are a resident, from the Kenya Police Service.

Application for renewal

• Duly completed, signed and stamped Form 30 by authorized personnel of the institution. You can print the form at the end of the student visa application.
• A detailed and signed cover letter addressed to the Director of the Immigration Service from the educational institution indicating the course you wish to study and its duration
• A signed letter of commitment from the sponsor or sponsoring institution or confirmation of availability of funds for self-funded students
• A copy of the sponsor's national passport.
• Copy of a valid national passport (biographical data page)
• Current immigration status of the pupil/student (if in the country)
• Two (2) recent passport size color photographs.
• Certificate from the Department of Refugee Affairs for refugees.
• Copy of previous student card - for renewal cases
• Certified copies of academic records/transcripts (issued by the issuing institution).
