Sweden Temporary protection

Temporary protection in Sweden, residence permit card (UT card)
Temporary departure from Sweden
Ukrainians who arrived in Sweden after February 24 or stayed in the country for a certain time before the start of the war have the right to obtain the status of "temporary protection". To obtain a residence permit in Sweden, you must provide a passport of a citizen of Ukraine or other documents that will confirm your need for protection.
Temporary protection applies to:
1 - citizens of Ukraine who lived on the territory of Ukraine as of February 24 and were forced to leave their homes due to the invasion of Russian troops.
2 - persons who have political asylum in Ukraine.
3 - family members of the first two categories (husband / wife) (including actual marital relations) and minor children, other close relatives, if they lived together and were dependent on a person from the first two categories.

Social security of temporarily displaced citizens of Ukraine
Temporary housing, food, the possibility of continuing education, discounted travel on public transport (with a Ukrainian passport).
You can get financial assistance from the Migration Service. Financial aid is paid from the budget of the Municipal Authority (Commune) in which you live. Unfortunately, not all communes have the opportunity to pay it. You can check this by entering your address on the special website of the Migration Service.
When and how should I apply for the extension of my residence permit?
Yes, refugees from Ukraine can extend temporary protection. The application must be submitted in the electronic service to March 4, 2025. For this, you do not need to attach any documents or copies of passports.
You must enter a number for everyone who wants to apply (you can apply for yourself and two other adult family members and up to ten children under the age of 18 for whom you are the legal guardian). The number to be entered in the application can be found on the residence permit map or in the upper right corner of the decision issued by the Migration Service.
After you apply, all family members who plan to renew their residence permit must visit the Migration Service in person to have their photo taken and fingerprints taken to obtain a new residence permit. The record of acceptance is made in the electronic service when the application is submitted.
Is it possible to temporarily return to Ukraine? What will happen to my protection status?
The Swedish Migration Board will not revoke your residence permit if you return to Ukraine. However, you lose your right to housing and financial assistance when you leave Sweden. If you need to return to Sweden, you can re-apply for housing and financial assistance.
You can also travel within the EU for up to 90 days within six months without losing your residence permit, but you may lose the right to housing and financial support from the Swedish Migration Board if you leave Sweden.
That being said, if you return to Sweden, you may be eligible to receive such assistance again, although there is no guarantee that you will be able to live in the same place as before.
