In Germany, after all, they decided to launch a single travel ticket with a cost of 49 euros. It will start to operate from May, but you can buy a ticket from April 3. We tell you what you need to know about the launch of discounted travel in Germany.
Yes, they tried to launch a single travel ticket several times already. Now, as the German publication ZDF writes, the authorities have decided on the date - May 1, 2023.
What will the single travel ticket look like in Germany, and why is the price of 49 euros not fixed?
Currently, it is planned that the single ticket for all types of transport will be electronic, and it will be possible to purchase it with a one-month subscription. However, it is still unclear whether the introduction of a paper ticket is planned.
The ticket is promised to be introduced as a continuation of the experiment with travel for 9 euros per month, which was carried out last summer. Then it was used more than 50 million times.
The price of 49 euros per month for travel was called "initial" by the federal authorities. As the price is expected to increase dynamically in line with inflation from 2024 onwards.
A cheaper ticket will also be available in the country
Another travel ticket will be introduced throughout Germany - it will be cheaper. It is about "working travel" provided that the employers will bear part of the costs of the transport company. They can also make school and social tickets.
Deutschlandticket will be launched only after several legal steps
Before transport associations and local transport companies can introduce the ticket, the EU Commission in Brussels must approve the project. In addition, it is necessary to supplement the law on regionalization (local legislation).
We will remind you! Ukrainians planning to receive temporary protection in Germany should note that not all federal states of the country continue to support refugees. Read in our material which regions of the country are ready to accept Ukrainians.
