In Budapest, free travel in public transport for Ukrainians was extended: details
Hungary continued free travel by public transport for refugees from Ukraine. Learn more about how much the free service will be available and what documents are required
Refugees from Ukraine fleeing the war in the Hungarian capital will be able to continue using public transport flights for free until the end of March 2023.
Free travel in transport for refugees from Ukraine was introduced in Budapest on March 4, 2022, and currently the validity period of this decision has been extended until March 31, 2023.
The transport company of Budapest is also asking its customers to provide assistance to refugees from Ukraine traveling by public transport in the city if necessary.
What documents do Ukrainians need to have for free public transport in Budapest?
In order to ride public transport for free in the capital of Hungary, you need to present any Ukrainian document for personal identification: passport, residence permit, student card, etc.
Where will the free ride service be available?
Free travel will be valid on public transport routes in Budapest, except for:
- airport express 100E;
- funicular;
- excursion flights;
- boats;
- HÉV and "blue" buses operating outside the city limits.
