Kherson region, located in the south of Ukraine, is known for its rich nature and amazing places that inspire with their beauty and uniqueness. To celebrate Kherson Day, let's take a look at some of the most stunning places that surround the city and are located within the region of the same name.
Pink lakes
One of the most amazing natural phenomena in the Kherson region is the pink lakes. These lakes, including the water area near the Henichesk Spit, acquire a pink hue due to microorganisms and algae that produce pigments. These lakes become especially colorful in the summer months, when sunlight emphasizes their unusual color. Pink lakes attract many tourists and photographers who want to capture this amazing natural beauty.
Lakes such as Lemurske and Syvash are painted pink. They have become a magnet for tourists from all over the world.
Abandoned estate of the Falz-Feins, Novooleksandrivka
The Kherson region is also rich in historical sites, including the abandoned Falz-Fein estate. This old neoclassical building is a real architectural gem.
Despite the fact that only the walls remain of the castle, it has not lost its charm. Moreover, if you know the history of its origin, you will appreciate this historical heritage one hundred percent.
At one time, the area where the estate is located was a real paradise with amazing fish and wild animals.

Dzharylgach, Adzhyhol, Tendriv, and Khablov lighthouses
The Kherson region is famous for its lighthouses, which not only perform an important navigational function but also represent beautiful architectural structures. The Dzharylgach, Adzhyhol, Tendriv and Khablov lighthouses each have their own unique history and distinctive design. A visit to these lighthouses will allow you to enjoy the majestic views of the Black Sea and the surrounding countryside.
However, it is worth noting that after the start of the full-scale war of the russian federation against Ukraine, according to journalists, the russian occupiers destroyed two unique lighthouses in Kherson region - the Adzhyhol and Khablov lighthouses.
These structures have always attracted tourists because of their unique appearance and history. The Khablovsky lighthouse was actually located in a field, not in a water area. It is located on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, 4 km from the shore of the Dnipro Bay. Why is the lighthouse in a field, you may ask? It is part of a complex of road signs.
Black Sea Biosphere Reserve
The Black Sea Biosphere Reserve is the largest reserve in Ukraine, consisting of several areas representing different landscapes of the coastal south of Ukraine: forest-steppe, sand-steppe, desert-steppe, and coastal salt marsh.
It is located on the territory of Kherson and partially Mykolaiv regions of Ukraine. The main purpose of its creation was the preservation and protection of unique natural complexes located on the territory, as well as scientific activities.
The total land area is 14,820 hectares, and the water area is 94,435 hectares.
