For the 2026 summer season, vacation expenses in Ukraine have risen by 25–40% compared to 2025. The most significant increase has been in accommodation costs, which account for up to half of the total vacation budget. At the same time, the focus of summer vacations has shifted noticeably: Ukrainians are increasingly choosing mountain resorts and city tourism. These figures are provided by the analytical department of Ribas Hotels Group, as cited by Interfax-Ukraine.

“What Ukrainians need most today is rest and a safe place to recharge. And although access to international travel is currently limited, there are many places in Ukraine where you can relax on a variety of budgets,” said Yelyzaveta Voloshyna, head of B2C sales and marketing at Ribas Hotels Group.

Accommodation: the main expense and the biggest price increase

Between 40 and 50% of a vacation budget goes toward accommodation. In high-end hotels, this share can be even higher: the price includes not just a bed, but a full range of amenities — spas, pools, and high-quality service.

In 2026, the price breakdown by segment looks like this:

● Country estates and basic apartments — 800–1,500 UAH/night (in 2025 — 600–1,200 UAH);

● Aparthotels and 3-star hotels — 1,800–3,500 UAH/night (a year ago — 1,200–2,600 UAH);

● Hotels with a spa and pool — in 2025, they cost 3,000–5,000 UAH/night; in 2026, prices also rose in line with the general trend.

In other words, each segment became more expensive by an average of several hundred hryvnias per night — a 25–40% increase. There are two reasons for this: consistently high demand for domestic travel amid limited opportunities to travel abroad, and rising operating costs for hotels. The cost of electricity for businesses in 2026 is 11.50–12.50 UAH per kWh, compared to 10.4 UAH in 2025, and fuel, according to the State Statistics Service, has risen by 13.2% annually.

Food: from a budget breakfast to an atmospheric dinner

The second-largest expense category — food — accounts for 20–30% of the vacation budget. This includes not only main meals but also “atmospheric” expenses: coffee with a view, an evening cocktail, and regional cuisine.

Transportation: train, car, or shuttle

Transportation accounts for 10 to 15% of the vacation budget. Train or bus tickets cost an average of 500 to 2,500 UAH per person, and a transfer to the hotel costs 200 to 1,000 UAH. If you’re traveling by car, fuel will cost 1,500 to 5,000 UAH per trip, depending on the distance.

Leisure and activities: the most flexible expense category

Entertainment usually accounts for about 10% of the total budget, but this category is the most variable. Specific figures for mountain resorts:

● ski lifts — 200–800 UAH;

● hot tub — 1,000–3,000 UAH;

● spa — 300–1,000 UAH/day;

● ATV or jeep tour — 1,500–4,000 UAH.

The average daily cost for activities per person ranges from 500 to 2,500 UAH.

The total minimum daily budget (accommodation + meals + activities + souvenirs) starts at 2,000 UAH per person.

Where Ukrainians are vacationing this summer: mountains, cities, and the sea

According to a study by Ribas Hotels Group, mountain resorts lead the way in vacation plans. The advantages of such a vacation include modern tourist offerings, relative safety, health benefits, and a variety of activities and excursions. The downsides include unstable weather, large crowds of tourists during the peak season, and high costs for attractions during peak weeks.

Interest in city breaks and trips to the suburbs is also growing significantly. The main advantage is the well-developed infrastructure, which allows you to change your leisure plans on any given day: for example, in Odesa, with its officially open beaches, you can spend a day at the beach, go on a food tour, or explore historical sites. The city also offers a wide range of options, from budget to premium.

Beach vacations are currently concentrated mainly in the Odessa area. The advantages of nearby coastal villages include a calmer atmosphere, a family-friendly atmosphere, and lower costs compared to other vacation options.

By the way, if you have foreign guests or acquaintances who want to visit Ukraine this summer, it’s worth reminding them: for foreign citizens entering the country under martial law, it’s important to obtain medical insurance covering war risks — this can be done through the Visit Ukraine platform.

How many Ukrainians plan to take a vacation this summer?

According to a separate survey, the picture looks like this:

● 51% of Ukrainians do not plan to take a vacation in 2026;

● 23% plan to vacation with loved ones in Ukraine;

● 15% want to travel abroad.

In other words, more than half of those who do decide to take a vacation will choose domestic tourism — and it is for this audience that the prices and destinations described above are most relevant.

We remind you! Summer vacations in Ukraine in 2026 remain popular among foreigners thanks to the safer regions in the west of the country, the Carpathians, and Zakarpattia.
