As a sign of solidarity and gratitude to the Polish people, Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a draft law "On establishing legal and social guarantees for citizens of the Republic of Poland residing in Ukraine" to the parliament for consideration.
If the deputies support the law, citizens of Poland who are in Ukraine will have rights similar to the rights of Ukrainians according to the law of Poland "On assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of this country."
The developed law guarantees Polish citizens the following rights:
📍 legal stay in Ukraine for 18 months;
📍 employment without a work permit for foreigners;
📍 education (in particular, with budget funds) and receiving scholarships;
📍 using medical services;
📍 conduct of economic activity;
📍 certain social benefits.
The President also recognized the contribution of the city of Przemyśl, awarding it the title of "city savior". Such an act is a manifestation of gratitude to the city authorities, residents, and volunteers who provided various support to Ukrainians seeking refuge in Poland. It should be noted that Przemyśl became the second city with such an honorable distinction. Previously, Rzeszów was the first to receive the title.
We should add that the text of the draft law is not currently available on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, so it is impossible to say when the law will be adopted.
