Ukrainians have selected the top ten finalists for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025: who got there?

On 17 January, the organisers of the National Selection for Eurovision 2025 officially announced the list of 10 finalists who will compete for the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the main European song contest.


As you know, the first nine finalists were announced in December 2024, and the tenth participant was chosen by Ukrainians through voting in the Diia app. According to the results of the popular vote, FIINKA received the maximum number of votes with the song ‘Culture’. Thus, it joined the final list of contestants.


The full list of finalists of the National Selection for Eurovision 2025


1. Future Culture - ‘Waste My Time’


A Kyiv-based musical formation founded in 2022. The band consists of Andrii Lytvynenko (drums), Oleksii Rudenko (bass), Andrii Shulakov (guitar), Daria Remez and Oleksii Bodnar (vocals).


Thanks to their diversity and dedication to music, Future Culture has managed to create its own unique eclectic sound, combining elements of neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, funk and other genres. According to the organisers, this is a band that is not afraid of experiments and is confidently looking for new horizons in contemporary Ukrainian music.


2. KHAYAT - ‘HONOUR’


Ukrainian musician and songwriter from Znamianka, Kirovohrad region. He combines elements of ethno-pop and electronic music.


The artist remains one of the most innovative and promising representatives of the Ukrainian scene.


3. KRYLATA - ‘STAY TRUE’


A singer and songwriter from Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi region. Participant in charity concerts and festivals such as Atlas United and Vyava United. Finalist of the ‘Incredible Duets’ project in the Jerry Heil team.


Winner of the ‘Move to reality’ nomination at the Muzvar Awards - 2024.


4. MOLODI - ‘my sea’


A pop band founded in 2022 by musicians Kirill Rogov and Ivan Stepanishchev from Mariupol. Electricians by training, they started their career as street musicians in their hometown.


Over the two years of their existence, Molodi have released 13 singles. Today they are the authors of their own songs and sound producers for many Ukrainian artists.


5. Ziferblat - ‘Bird of pray’


The Kyiv-based band Ziferblat was founded in 2015 by twin brothers Danylo (lead singer) and Valentyn (guitarist) Leshchynsky. They were later joined by Fedir Khodakov (drummer).


The band won the Best New Names in Alternative Music nomination at the Muzvar Awards - 2023 and were nominated in three categories at the Megogo Music Awards - Alternative Indie Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Album of the Year. In the spring of 2024, they went on their first tour of Ukraine. Finalists of the National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.


6. Abiye - ‘Home’


‘Abie’ is an outdated version of the Ukrainian word for “unexpectedly”. This is the name of the project by Natalia Shevchenko from Myrhorod, which has been around for seven years.


During this time, the singer has released a number of singles, hits, opened a vocal studio, and after the full-scale invasion, she began volunteering. Together with the Cultural Desant, she regularly works along the frontline in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Kharkiv regions. Abiye's sound is a combination of touching notes of gentle acoustic rock and sensual Ukrainian soul.


7. DK Energetic - ‘Salt’


A post-punk band from Kyiv and Brovary. For almost two years of active creative work, the band has released three albums. The band consists of three members: Yakov Marnyi on vocals, Vsevolod Shutka on guitar, and Oleksandr Folianskyi on bass.


In their first works, the band tried to convey the atmosphere of the 90s in post-Soviet Ukraine. The latest full-length work is more about reflections on the present.


8. Masha Kondratenko - ‘No time to cry’


A singer and songwriter, actress and blogger, trendsetter and public favourite from Shostka, Sumy region. She became known for her role in the TV series School, participated in the children's and adult Voice of the Country, and won over millions of listeners with her song Vanka-Vstanka.


Masha easily combines ironic tracks and frank ballads, changes images, styles, moods and roles. She boldly relays current topics and events and creates hits that invariably hit the trends and our hearts.


9. Vlad Sheriff - ‘Wind of change’


Singer, songwriter, blogger and music video director from Kharkiv. Last year, Vlad Sherif directed the music video for the finalist of the National Selection for Eurovision 2024, ANKA, for the song ‘Palala’.

10. FIINKA - ‘Culture’


Singer and songwriter, actress, originally from Ivano-Frankivsk region. She is an ethnic Hutsul. She is known for her songs based on Hutsul motifs with a dialect and her comedy show Lizhnyk TV.


She promotes Hutsul culture in her own unique way. She is a finalist in the National Selection for Eurovision 2023.

What else do you need to know about the National Selection 2025?


Of particular interest are the participants who already have experience of participating in the National Selection. Thus, the band Ziferblat, the artist KHAYAT and the singer FIINKA are trying their hand for the second time, hoping to win over the jury and the audience.


By the way, the jury of the National Selection 2025, based on the results of voting in the Diia app, selected Jamala, the singer and winner of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest; Serhiy Tanchynets, musician, producer, leader of the rock band Bez Obmezhen, and Kateryna Pavlenko, frontwoman of the band Go_A.


The final show of the National Selection will take place on 8 February 2025 in the format of a TV concert. The winner will have the right to represent Ukraine in the international arena and compete for the victory at Eurovision 2025.


When will Eurovision 2025 take place?


The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Swiss city of Basel. The Eurovision Grand Final will take place on Saturday, 17 May, and the semi-finals will be held on 13 and 15 May 2025. The contest will take place at the St. Jakobshalle arena after Nemo's victory with The Code at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Accordingly, 38 countries will take part in the contest, 32 of which will compete in the semi-finals.
