Recently, the press service of the Lviv Regional Council reported on the results of work on a new tourist list of locations that shape the modern face of the region and set benchmarks for travel in the coming years. There are 25 places that combine natural beauty, historical depth, and accessibility for travellers with different needs.
Lviv Region is a land of mountains and valleys, monasteries and castles, ancient settlements and modern recreational areas. Which locations are considered key tourist attractions in the region and why they are worth paying attention to in 2026 — we will tell you more in this article.
Sacred places and spiritual heritage
Lviv region maintains a unique balance between religious tradition and openness to tourists. That is why the list includes iconic sacred sites that attract thousands of visitors every year.
These include the Univ Lavra, one of the main spiritual centres of the region, the Krekhiv Monastery, which combines seclusion with picturesque nature, and the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in the village of Isaia, an example of authentic Boiko sacred architecture. The list also includes the Church of St. George in Drohobych, one of the most famous wooden churches in Ukraine.

Castles, cities and traces of great history
The historical monuments of Lviv region are living spaces where the past can be read in stone and city planning.
The list includes the legendary castles of the ‘Golden Horseshoe’: Olesko Castle, Pidhirtsi Castle and Zolochiv Castle, each of which reveals a different layer of the region's history. Added to these is Svirzh Castle — less touristy, but extremely atmospheric.
Special attention is drawn to the centre of Zhovkva — an example of an ideal Renaissance city — as well as the Stilske settlement, which opens the pages of the history of pre-Christian Rus.

For those looking to recharge their batteries, Lviv region offers powerful natural locations that combine active tourism and tranquillity.
The list includes Mount Pikui and Mount Makivka, which are important from both a natural and historical point of view. No less popular are the Gurkalo Waterfall and the rock fortress of Tustan, which combines archaeology with mountain landscapes.
The Carpathian Lighthouse and Yavoriv National Nature Park, which showcase the diversity of the Carpathian landscapes, have earned their place among the natural magnets.
